Henry did his best to keep things vague, careful not to say too much and accidentally let something slip. The last thing he wanted was for Grayson to pick up on anything unusual.
Sensing his reluctance, Grayson assumed he simply didn't want to talk further. So, he let the matter of Jane drop and shifted the conversation back to business.
Two hours later, the dinner finally came to an end.
As soon as Grayson stepped out and the private dining room door shut behind him, Henry's polite smile vanished. He quickly pulled out his phone and dialed Suzanne's number, but there was no answer.
His anxiety spiked. He tried again and again, but every call went unanswered.
Clenching his phone, he cursed under his breath, "Damn it! Why isn't she picking up?"
Ever since Suzanne moved out, he had no idea where she was staying. It left him completely powerless.
If she had just told him about her status earlier, the company wouldn't be stuck in place. They could have soared to new heights by now.
Henry slammed his phone onto the table and let out a heavy sigh.
Thinking of the ungrateful woman, he knew he had to go to the office tomorrow and talk to her in person. But still, he doubted that Suzanne was Jane. Even now, he found it hard to believe.
He hurriedly opened a video streaming platform. The moment the homepage loaded, it was flooded with promotions for Wellness Pioneers. He barely had to search.
Clicking on the video, he watched intently—again and again—until there was no room left for doubt.
It was her.
Henry sank into his chair, racking his brain for how he should approach her tomorrow. He had no idea what kind of attitude she'd have toward him now.
But there was nothing else he could do tonight. All he could do was go home and wait.
…
The next day, Suzanne arrived at the office as usual. She headed straight to the design department after clocking in. But the moment she stepped inside, she sensed something was off. The air felt different.
The people who had once treated her rudely now wore anxious expressions, as if terrified of what she might do.
