Ten minutes later, Cheryl stepped out of the elevator on the 22nd floor.
Following the signs at the scene, she went to collect her queue number. The employee handing out the numbers glanced at Cheryl with a flicker of amazement flashing in her eyes. She thought that Cheryl was truly beautiful.
The employee quickly regained her composure and handed the number to Cheryl, politely saying, "Ms. Sutton, please wait in line over there."
Cheryl gave a slight nod and replied courteously, "Okay. Thank you."
Holding the queue number in her hand, she felt even more anxious. She murmured under her breath, "You can do this, Cheryl."
This was her one and only chance to turn things around.
The waiting room was packed with people. A single glance was enough to estimate that there were at least a hundred people inside. Among them were several well-known B- and C-list actresses, each having pulled strings and used their connections to secure a chance at this audition.
But they all knew that the odds were slim. After all, countless actresses had already been eliminated in the earlier rounds.
Yet despite this, they still flocked here for a chance to audition. Because this was a drama by none other than Marsha Newton, the renowned director!
At the front of the room sat Yvette Herschel, who was dressed in an elegant white dress. With her arms crossed and her chin slightly raised, her beautiful face carried an air of arrogance.
A group of women surrounded her. Among them, Barbie Sanders, dressed in casual attire, glanced at Yvette and sighed. "Yvette, with you here, the rest of us don't stand a chance. It looks like the role of the second female lead is definitely yours."
Yvette had been nominated multiple times for Best Supporting Actress. Now, if she landed this role, she could very well aim for Best Supporting Actress again.
Hence, Yvette was determined to win this role.
Yvette was very pleased with Barbie's words. She glanced at her, still acting modest by saying, "That's not true. It's a fair audition. Whoever has the best skills will get the role."
Many people rolled their eyes internally at this statement. If Yvette was selected, it would be proof that she had the best skills, implying that the others lacked talent.
