Austin glanced at her.

Suzanne paused for a moment. The last time she was hit by Henry, Austin had asked about it, and she hadn’t said anything. But now, she thought that there was nothing she couldn’t share.

She forced a smile and said in a strained voice, “My dad wants me to marry Todd Lloyd”

Austin’s expression instantly darkened. “Your dad sure knows how to pick a man.

Todd was known for being a womanizer, and he was a regular at the nightlife spots of Dutore. There was even an incident where he spent five million dollars on one woman for a single night, only for her to end up in the hospital the next day. This scandal had been the talk of the town.

Suzanne tumed her gaze to Austin and let out a bitter laugh. As expected, he knew about Todd too. “Yeah.”

She then told him about the bearing she received that day. The more she spoke, the colder the air in the cat became.

Austin’s gaze was now as cold as ice Suddenly, the car screeched to a halt.

Suzanne was jolted in her seat, and Austin quickly pulled over to the side of the road. He turned to look at her. “I’m your husband. You should’ve told me

Suzanne froze. Over the years, few people had protected her, so she never liked showing her wounds to others. She lowered her gaze to hide the complicated emotions in her eyes. At that moment, she felt a flicker of warmth in her heart.

“I know you want to stand up for me. But 1” Suzanne hesitated before her voice dropped. “I don’t want to rely on you too much.”

The Hall family was incredibly powerful. If Henry could align himself with them, given his nature, he would cling to them like a leech and drain all their resources. She couldn’t allow Henry to have that opportunity.

Austin’s expression darkened in an instant, and an oppressive air filled the car.
