Her Husband's Secret Affair novel Chapter 15

Chapter 15

“Fix it, Eric!” Adam barked into his phone, pacing the length of his office. His tie was loosened, his hair slightly disheveled, evidence of the restless nights he’d endured.

“Adam, I’ve told you,” Eric, his lawyer, said calmly on the other end. “You signed the papers. The divorce is in motion. There’s a process—”

“I don’t care about the damn process!” Adam snapped, slamming his palm against the edge of his desk. “I need a solution. Now.”

Eric sighed heavily. “Look, legally, Sophie has the upper hand here. You willingly signed the documents. Unless she agrees to halt the proceedings—”

“She won’t,” Adam interrupted, his voice cracking with frustration. “There has to be another way. You’re the lawyer. Think!”

There was a long pause on the line before Eric finally spoke, his tone hesitant. “There might be a loophole… but it’s not guaranteed. It’ll require some digging, and even then—”

“I don’t care how slim the chances are,” Adam cut in. “Do it. Find the loophole. Call me when you have something.”

Without waiting for a response, Adam ended the call and tossed his phone onto his desk.

He ran a hand through his hair, his mind racing. Every second that passed felt like Sophie was slipping further away.

Grabbing his coat, he prepared to leave. He needed to meet Eric in person, to go over every detail, every possibility. But as he turned toward the door, it swung open, and in walked Brenda.

Adam froze mid-step, his eyes narrowing. “What the hell are you doing here?”

Brenda smiled coyly, shutting the door behind her. “Good morning to you too, Adam.”

“I don’t have time for this,” he said coldly, moving back to his desk. Picking up the phone, he dialed security.

“I have an intruder here. Come get her now,” he ordered before slamming the receiver down.

Brenda crossed her arms, unbothered by his hostility. “That’s no way to treat someone who’s been nothing but loyal to you.”

Adam shot her a glare. “Loyal? You call lying to my wife loyalty? Manipulating her into leaving me?”

She stepped closer, her smirk unwavering. “I did what I had to do, Adam. For us.”
