Daniel smiled and remained silent.
Colin pulled Sophia away from Shelly. "Stay close. Don't run away!"
Sophia didn't know how to respond. She hadn't run away yet, although she wanted to. She'd been staying in the living room all this time!
After realizing that Leila was interested in her husband, Sophia changed her mind.
She squeezed Colin's hand and replied, "Sure."
Colin was surprised at her tenderness. He lowered his eyes to look at her, but didn't say anything.
Leila asked, "Colin, won't you introduce us?"
Colin nodded. "Leila, this is my wife, Sophia Lo. Sophia, this is Leila Ji, my friend. But I've always seen her as my sister."
At the introduction, the two women exchanged pleasantries.
Then Leila turned her back to Sophia. She completely ignored Sophia as she resumed her conversation with Colin.
After a while, Daniel was called away by his wife, leaving Colin, Sophia, Leila, Herring, and Shelly behind.
Colin loosened his grasp and whispered to Sophia, "Go upstairs and change your dress."
He had noticed the dress dilemma, but he hadn't found a chance to talk to Sophia.
Sophia blinked innocently at him. "But I want you to accompany me."
Before Colin could reply, Leila pulled his arm and turned him to another direction. "Colin, Colin! Look! That's granny! I want to say hi to her. Would you come with me?"
Herring and Shelly exchanged a look at her words. They knew exactly what Leila was doing.
Colin was about to refuse her, but Leila didn't give him a chance and pulled him towards Angie.
Sophia watched them leave, her eyes filled with disappointment.
"Don't worry, sister. My brother doesn't like Leila that way. They grew up together since childhood and my brother treats her like his own sister, that's all." Shelly comforted Sophia, even though she wasn't convinced by her own words.
Even a blind person could see Leila's feelings for Colin.
Leila had stayed close to Colin since she entered the dining hall, no wonder a lot of people assumed that she was Colin's wife.
Sophia drew her gaze back and said, "It's okay. I'll go change my clothes. See you later."
"Alright."
When Sophia went upstairs, she felt the whole world go quiet. In that moment, a figure appeared from a corner.
"Sophie!"
Payne cried, taking Sophia by surprise. She stared at him in shock. Why was he here?
Taking a deep breath, she passed around him and walked towards her room.
But Payne blocked her way. Obsessively looking at the woman in front of him, he gasped in admiration, "Sophie, you look so stunning today!"
In his eyes, Sophia looked even lovelier than Leila Ji.
"The second floor is not open to the public. What are you doing here, Payne?" And where was Dorothy? Why wasn't she by Payne's side?
Payne tried to hug Sophia, but she stepped aside.
"Sophie, Colin can't make you happy. Why don't you come back to me?"
Sophia decided not to dignify him with a response. Tonight was grandpa's birthday party. She didn't want any trouble.
She passed around him and went on, but Payne didn't go away. When Payne followed her towards her room, Sophia stopped and turned to him angrily. "Payne Tai! I told you that you're not allowed here! What are you doing?"
It would easily cause a misunderstanding if someone spotted them together on the second floor.
Sophia turned to the staircase. She decided that if Payne continued to follow her, she would go straight downstairs.
"Sophie, I still love you..." Payne continued to express his love, fearing that Sophia didn't believe him. "Everything I say is true..."
Sophia glanced at him coldly. "You disgust me. I'm Colin's wife now. Keep bothering me, and he will break your other arm."
