He was such a well-bred, well-behaved child that everyone liked him, and Manfred was no exception.
But seeing that he looked like his half-brother, he was upset.
His eyes went dim, but it was gone in a minute. He gave a faint smile and rubbed his head softly.
“Don't mention it, I have known your mother for a long time. It's ok to treat you to a cake. If you like it, I can take you to the amusement park next time.”
“Ok, thank you, Uncle Manfred. I'll go first.”
He grabbed his fruitcake and quickly left the shop.
Alice was worried, stood up and watched him get into the car and close the door before she was relieved.
When she was ready to go back, there was the sound of Manfred behind her.
“You needn't be so nervous. I told you a long time ago that I mean no harm, either to you or to your child.”
Alice, “...”
She froze for a moment, and then turned to look at Manfred with icy eyes.
“Do you remember that I told you a long time ago that I don't want to be a victim of your struggle with Kennedy?”
Hearing that, Manfred wrinkled eyebrow.
“Why do you think that? Five years have passed. If I wanted to fight with him, I would have fought him when I was in the Moore’s house. Why should I have waited until now?”
“So what do you mean now?” Alice sneered out, “I can believe you met me by accidence, but what about now? You passed by the school when you were off work and saw Jack, so you brought him to have cake. Do you think he is just a child and defenseless, so you want to buy him off?”
Seeing he was to talk, Alice interrupted him.
“Don't explain. There may be coincidences, but they can't be repeated. Even if you want to use me, you should restrain your emotions and suppress your heart, instead of coming up to me in all sorts of different ways.”
Manfred’s eyes went dim and he firmly fixed his eyes on her.
“What about him?”
Alice was stunned hearing that.
“He is reaching out to you in all sorts of ways, so why wouldn't you think he was up to something? And I just happened to meet you a few times and I signed a contract with you, so I want to use you? Alice, you are too partial.”
Alice, “...”
“Because you're still in love with him?”
Alice opened her eyes wide, “Don't talk nonsense,”
Manfred stepped forward, his warm breath became imposing, “I talk nonsense or you dare not admit it? Because you still like him, so no matter what he does, how close he is to you, you will feel that he is obsessed and will not question him as you question me, right?”
“I...”
“I said I wouldn't hurt you, and I certainly wouldn't hurt the boy. Even if Kennedy is the father, in my eyes, he is only your child.”
“You...”
Manfred took another step forward. “If I really want to get close to you, it's because I like you.”
The sudden confession stunned Alice.
