Samantha mumbled softly, "I don't have a boyfriend."
"You were this close to moving in with him, and you're saying you're not in a relationship?" Layla was shocked.
Samantha didn't explain her previous plan to move out, and Layla didn't press for details either. Unexpectedly, her casual guess was almost spot on.
After all, when Samantha first brought up moving out, it was basically the same as planning to live with Leonardo. But now, it seemed like he didn't want that anymore.
Samantha stayed silent, but Layla had already gotten the answer based on the former's expression. She assumed they were probably fighting.
"I made you a lunchbox today, didn't I? Did you two eat together? I even added a heart-shaped fried egg for you. How could that not charm him completely?"
"I don't know if he ate it or not."
"You don't know? You didn't see him yesterday?"
"Hmm."
"Then did you eat the food I made for you?"
Samantha lowered her gaze and shook her head. "Someone delivered it to him for me… but I have no idea if he actually ate it."
Layla immediately became furious, rolling up her sleeves and getting into a stance as if ready to fight.
"Fuck! He didn't eat it all by himself without giving you any, did he? That bastard! So disgusting! Totally wasted the effort I put into making that meal!"
Samantha stopped her. "Forget it. I won't be delivering food to him anymore."
"Did you break up?"
"Kind of..." Samantha nodded slightly.
She didn't know how to explain such a bizarre situation to Layla, so she decided it was easier to just brush it off. Leonardo had told her to get lost, so she took it to mean that they should never see each other again.
"I talked to him about buying a house, and he disagreed again. In the end, all I got was a 'thank you.' Thank you for what? I wasn't asking him for a 'thank you,' I was asking for his help!"
Layla vented her frustrations, clearly upset about her encounter with Ethan. Talking behind Ethan's back like this was pretty much a routine for them.
However, Samantha quickly caught on to the main point. "Wasn't Ethan unwilling to see you before?"
Both of them had tried to meet with Ethan before but had failed each time. Hence, after a while, they had just given up. Samantha didn't expect that Layla would actually succeed this time.
"Maybe he was just craving the lunch I made."
"How did he know you made it personally?"
"I texted him."
"You have his WhatsApp number?"
