Samantha asked, "Why don't you look for other women?"
"Do you really hate me that much?" Ryan inquired.
"I don't hate you. It's just... I don't think we're a good match."
When he heard Samantha say she didn't hate him, a smile appeared on Ryan's face. "Since you don't hate me, that means I still have a chance. It's fine; you don't need to change. I'll change to match you."
"You better not!" Samantha quickly refused, and the atmosphere grew a little awkward.
Ryan beamed. "Alright, I won't pressure you. Let's talk about something else. What do you want for dinner? I'll have it delivered."
"I was actually planning to eat at home..."
"There's a new restaurant that just opened. The food isn't bad. I'll order from there."
Samantha sighed helplessly. She wondered if he was even listening to her. She pressed her lips together, wondering how to convince him.
Before she could say anything, Ryan added, "I heard their braised pork ribs are amazing. The sauce is absolutely divine."
Ryan knew exactly how to get to her. The moment she heard about those delicious braised pork ribs, she couldn't help but waver. There was no way she could resist something so delectable.
She sat down. "Alright then. Let's try it."
"Perfect." Ryan was pleased.
…
For the next few days, he finally gave her some peace. As the end of the semester approached, Samantha was busy rehearsing with her classmates.
That day, as their practice session was coming to an end, the students received a group message from the school. Samantha assumed it was just another routine announcement, probably something unimportant.
But when she tapped to open it, she was met with a striking poster. It was an open casting call for Evergreen Corporation's brand ambassador.
"Same. She's my idol."
"I even heard that this Evergreen Corporation endorsement is already practically hers. She posted on social media about getting a new bag from their brand a few days ago. Was that all just a tease?"
"She only said she got the bag, not that she secured the endorsement. The rest is just people speculating. Why should Liliana take the blame for that?"
"I've decided! I'm signing up for the audition. Even if I don't get picked, meeting my idol would already be a win."
"You're right! I'm definitely going too."
Samantha bit her lip, staring blankly at the poster. Liliana would undoubtedly pursue the audition for Leonardo's company. Samantha felt like she should stay away from all of it.
Yet, this was an opportunity right in front of her. Whether or not she succeeded in the end didn't matter. Giving up without trying was never her style.
With a determined look, she quickly downloaded the registration form from the group chat.
