Samantha's lashes were dripping with water, and she could barely open her eyes.
The glass was thrown at her, and she instinctively moved out of the way. It missed but hit the ground near her feet, and the glass shards scraped her ankle.
Everything happened so quickly that neither Samantha nor Ethan could react in time.
After they snapped back to reality, Ethan quickly stepped in front of Samantha to protect her, looking at Yara with a stern expression. "Isn't this a bit too much, Ms. Quest?"
The Quest family and the Garrett family were in-laws, so Ethan had done some checkups for the Quests. That was how he got to know them.
"A bit too much?" Yara snickered at Samantha. "Doesn't she realize who she is now? How can she flirt around like that? That's so shameless."
He questioned, "What is she supposed to be?"
She was about to say something when Samantha cut her off. "I just wanted to thank Dr. Reed with a meal. There's nothing more to it, so stop making it into something it's not."
Samantha couldn't let Yara bring up her relationship with Leonardo, and she didn't want Yara to get the wrong idea about her and Ethan.
Yara was close to Laura. She was worried that if Laura heard about this, it could cause problems in Leonardo's family.
Yara added, "If there's nothing between both of you, why are you having a meal together like a date? Who knows what you two are up to?"
Ethan retorted, "We're in a restaurant, and this is a public area. What can happen here?"
She pressed on, "You should be asking yourselves that. You know the truth best."
If Yara had been set on finding them guilty, she would always have an excuse.
