Samantha asked, "By the way, do you still have long black?"
Ethan looked down at the cups and quickly grabbed one before handing it to Samantha. "Here you go."
Layla raised an eyebrow. "Do you drink that? Long black can be pretty bitter. You're not used to it."
"I'm not going to drink it," Samantha replied. "This is for Leonardo."
"What happened to us having dinner together?" Layla frowned.
Hearing that, Ethan immediately looked over at Samantha, who immediately felt the tension. "Can we do it another night? I've already made dinner plans with Leonardo."
Layla gritted her teeth. "What? You are placing your husband first!"
Samantha smiled in resignation. She wasn't prioritizing her husband, but she was on a mission to get Layla and Ethan together.
Ethan pretended to take Samantha's side. "Since she's already got plans, don't make it hard for her. I'm free, so I'll join you for dinner."
Layla responded, "I suddenly don't feel like dining outdoors now."
"I don't mind eating at your place," he remarked.
Was he really going to her house?
If she let him inside, she wasn't even sure whether she could keep it together. Even if he could hold himself back, she had no faith in herself.
Layla shook off the wild thoughts and retorted, "I didn't invite you to my place."
Ethan looked innocent. "I just want to spend time with you."
It felt more like making a move on her than just hanging out. She could tell what he had in mind. "Honestly, I'm fine on my own."
He asked, "What's the difference if you have one more person with you?"
"I'm done." She was getting annoyed and finally surrendered. "Never mind. Let's just dine outdoors."
Ethan responded, "Where do you want to eat? I'll book us a table."
One of the employees speculated. "Are you saying she is a sugar baby? That's disgusting. The college students nowadays are really hitting new lows."
Another voice cut in. "Stop talking nonsense. We're proper college students, unlike those who aren't."
Samantha didn't expect that after the Evergreen's ambassador competition, she'd become the talk of the company. She'd just be waiting for the elevator, and people would gossip about her.
If she had known this would happen, she would have worn a mask when she left the house.
The elevator doors opened, and Samantha walked in. After scanning the QR code and pressing the button for her floor, the doors slowly closed, shutting out the gossip.
Samantha leaned against the elevator as she was lost in thought. Did she have an unfair advantage back then?
The elevator went up and stopped at the designated floor before the doors slid open.
Samantha saw Leonardo, her "unfair advantage" in the competition, standing at the elevator door. When he spotted her, he narrowed his eyes and grinned. "You're here."
