Chinne’s smile Widened, and she looked at Samantha with an undeniable glint of satisfaction in her eyes. Samantha averted her gaze and shrank back into the corner, doing her best to bland into the background

bus that night, he’d been instantly captivated by the young woman on stage. He couldn’t bear his gaze away.
From that day on, he’d started showing up in front of Samantha all the time. He’d invited her to meals and gave her flowers, designer bags, and jewelry. But no matter what he’d done, Samantha had never once agreed to go out with him or accepted any of his gifts.

as Chlone had started dating Ryan, her attitude toward Samantha had done a complete 150. She’d become openly sarcastic and condescending, as if they’d never been friends at all. Rumors had spread around campus. People had started whispering that Ryan had never actually liked Samantha. Instead, he’d only pursued her to get Chione’s attention, and it had all Lenone–sided on Samanthu’s part. No one knew for sure who’d started chose rumors.
And just the that, Samantha and Chion had fallen out over a man. They’d never spoken again.
The former student council president had always valued Samantha, but when it had been time for elections, both he and the others had voted for Chione instead. Now, Chione sat at the top
