Chapter 279 Fueled Public Anger
Aaron’s harsh words only fueled the public’s anger! The families of the infected patients were even less likely to let Kallum off the hook!
“What more do you intend to do at this point? Hasn’t your family caused us enough harm already? Do you wish to ruin even more lives?” one member of the crowd shouted.
Confronted with the crowd’s accusations and fury, just before emotions crupted once again, Calista suddenly stepped forward. Determinedly, she shielded Kallum behind her.
“Isn’t it a bit hasty to condemn the Fairchild family based solely on Wayne’s account?” Her cool voice momentarily silenced the crowd.
However, Wayne quickly recovered and sharply retorted!
“How dare you still try to cover for him! Kallum is definitely infected with the K Virus! Unless you’ve found a cure for the K Virus, no matter what you say, he can’t escape the fate of being quarantined!”
Calista chuckled coldly. “Kallum gathered all those experts merely because I showed interest in the K Virus, and he wanted to help me out. However, you claimed those people were gathered because he was infected. Where’s your proof?”
Wayne’s face turned an unsightly shade. It was already a miracle that he had managed to escape, so he had no evidence to prove that Kallum was sick. He didn’t even have any contracts!
Seeing that Wayne remained silent, Calista calmly turned the tables. “In other words, you know nothing. yet you’re here recklessly slandering people?”
The atmosphere gradually calmed down. At that moment, Aaron grumbled discontentedly. “Just like this person can’t prove what he’s saying, what proof do you have for your words?”
“Exactly!” Harvey exclaimed, panting heavily. “The easiest way to find out if there’s an issue is by taking him to the hospital! All I hear is you talking, but what evidence do you have to prove that Kallum is okay?”
Calista slightly raised an eyebrow, “Of course I have.”
At that moment, everyone, including Kallum, had their eyes on Calista.
They wondered what evidence was there to prove in front of everyone that Kallum was not infected.
A thought vaguely formed in Kallum’s mind, which was then followed by a look of fear as he gazed at Calista. That was probably the first time in his life that he had felt such terror. Could she be planning to…
“Calli-
“Trust me.” Before Kallum could ufter a word, Calista interrupted him. At that moment, a flurry of thoughts rushed through Kallum’s mind, but ultimately, he was captivated by the unwavering gaze of
Calista.
Her eyes shone like the stars, yet the dark part was even–blacker than the abyss.
She reached out and grasped Kallum’s hand, which was still dripping with blood.

Chapter 279 Fueled Public Anger
Under the intense gaze of the crowd, Calista exhaled. She looked at Kallum, surprised that she had finally
taken that step.
At that moment, Kallum abruptly understood Calista’s intentions. She’s really going through with that! I would rather be the one to suffer!
However, just as his fingertips were about to slip away from Calista’s palm, Calista suddenly stood on her tiptoes and kissed him!
The entire venue fell into immediate silence. The crowd was fixated on the stage, in disbelief that the couple chose to share a kiss at that moment.
The skeptics thought, Could it be that Calista is trying to prove that Kallum is all right by doing that? Ha, if that is the extent of her efforts, it is simply impossible to dispel those doubts!
Kallum, however, wanted to dodge. For the first time, he resisted Calista’s kiss, rapidly pushing her aw Calista stepped back half a step, but before he could speak, she quickly interjected. “You once asked me if I would be willing to die with you.”
Calista narrowed her eyes at him, a sudden boldness in her demeanor as she chuckled lightly and asked, “If anything happens to me, would you let me down?”
After she finished speaking, she lowered her head without any hesitation, taking Kallum’s still–bleeding finger into her mouth!
