S31 41. Testing Sophia’s Patience
With a casual gesture, Frank motioned for the driver to get off.
“Can you drive it, Sir? Trucks are different from regular cars.”
The old driver sounded worried. He didn’t want the vehicle to support his family having problems. If the pay wasn’t so big, he wouldn’t have allowed someone else to drive.
“Don’t worry, Sir. I can even fly a plane.”
In a blink of an eye, Frank got behind the wheel. Then he easily brought the truck in. Sophia was waiting on the porch.
“Welcome, Frank Harper. I am glad you come to visit my house.” Sophia smiled sweetly.
Frank snorted faintly. “I came to visit my mother,” he emphasized, before slamming the truck door.
“Isn’t that the same thing?” Sophia raised an eyebrow then swung her palm backwards. “Please come in. I have prepared dinner to welcome
you.”
“It seems you still don’t understand. I came to visit my mother, not accompany you to dinner.”
The curve of Sophia’s lips turned stiff. “Would it hurt if we had dinner first? Your mother just fell asleep. She didn’t have time to rest this afternoon. You couldn’t possibly have the heart to wake her up, right?”
“Then, you’d better order your men to take my mother’s things down now. So when my mother wakes up, we can immediately arrange them.”
Sophia blinked with a frozen expression. “Can’t you relax for a

moment? We can do that after eating.”
“No,” Frank shook his head firmly, “I can’t accept your invitation to dinner if the truck hasn’t been unloaded. I don’t want to increase my
debt.”
Sophia let out a faint breath. However, the twinkle in her eyes grew brighter. The harder Frank was to her, the greater her desire to conquer him.
“How about we just take the middle way? I’ll tell my men to unload the truck, but you have to eat with me while they’re working.”
Frank lowered his eyebrows for a moment. “That makes sense,” he muttered, making Sophia’s smile widen.
“Good. Then,” she snapped her fingers. A servant rushed over.
Unload the things from the truck. Put them in the hall to Mrs. Harris’s
room.”
“Okay, Miss.”
Blinking gently, Sophia turned to face Frank. “How is it, Mr. Harper? Can we start dinner now?”
Frank gritted his teeth. His hands were clenched into fists in
compulsion. “Promise not to stall. As soon as my mother wakes up, I want to see her right away.”
“Sure.”
With a triumphant smile, Sophia reached out her hand. However, before she managed to touch the strong arm that she always wanted to hold, Frank moved away.
“Show me where the dining room is.
Sophia’s hand froze in the air. While forcing a smile, she pointed her five fingers in a direction.

“This way.”
Frank walked first, as if he was the host. Sophia sighed sadly seeing that cold attitude.
“Why is it so hard to break into your heart, Frank?” Sophia thought, before following with long steps.
Instead of finding a dining room, Frank arrived at a veranda. There were only one round table and two chairs there. Without paying attention to the candles or rose petals around him, Frank sat down. Sophia, who arrived later, smiled wryly when she saw that.
“Can’t you pull out a chair for me?” Sophia stood at the side of the table, glancing at the empty chairs.
Frank raised an eyebrow. “I don’t need to pull it. It’s already in the right distance from the table. Besides, you’re not my wife.”
Sophia’s eyebrows moved down. She had no choice but to sit down without Frank’s help. After that, two servants approached, lifting the food cover from the round plate beneath it.
“This is the best premium steak in the world. I ordered it on purpose for you. You like protein, right?” Sophia started arranging the napkins
on her lap.
Pursing his lips, Frank nodded. “Yes, but I’m going vegetarian tonight. Is there anything else on the menu?”
Sophia blinked stiffly. “Yes. There’s salad, if you want. But, is that enough? Don’t muscular guys like you always pay attention to protein intake?”
“I ate a lot of meat last night. You know? Kara is very tender. I love every part of her body.”
Sophia unconsciously clenched her jaw. Taking a deep breath, she

maintained her patience.
“Is that so?” After managing to return a smile, Sophia sliced the steak gracefully.
“But you have to remember. You won’t know better quality if you don’t try.” She brought the piece of meat to Frank’s mouth.
With slow movements, Frank removed the fork from in front of his face. “I told you, I’m vegetarian tonight. Why are you still insisting?”
Sophia’s cheeks twitched faintly. Letting out a humiliated laugh, she put down the fork until it made a clink, a sign that her patience had evaporated.
“Do you realize, Frank? You’ve gone too far.” With a cold expression, Sophia raised her head. Her eyes were piercing.
However, Frank was not afraid. He tilted his head, maintaining his innocent face. “What do you mean?”
“I’ve done a lot for you. I’ve helped you reconcile with Grandma, taken care of your mother, and invited you to this special dinner. But you don’t appreciate me at all.”
Frank shrugged his shoulders lightly “What can I do? I’m already married, and you don’t respect the truth either. Why should I show respect?”
“What am I lacking compared to Kara?” Sophia’s voice started to become forceful. “Appearance? Intelligence? Ability? I think I’m far beyond her. I’m even closer to your grandmother and mother. But why do you still hold on to her?”
Realizing Sophia’s eyes were starting to turn red, Frank put a serious look on his face. He no longer needed to pretend to be stupid. The limits of Sophia’s patience had been broken.
“You lack honesty. Don’t you know? hate people who pretend.”
