S31 58. Counterattack
Sophia sighed in disbelief. Her head movements quickened. “Please don’t fire me, Dad. I myself built my company to this. It’s not fair if you hand it over to someone else.”
Victor shook his head. “What people count on is current performance, not the past. Nobody cares about how much you struggled to build it. All they see is how you brought your own company down.”
Sophia’s tears began to well up. Her face was filled with despair. ” Please give me a chance, Dad. I can restore my good name and that of my company. I guarantee you, within one month, I can fix everything.”
“The Moore family may be sweet-mouthed, but we always keep our word, Sophia. You… just made us doubt your identity.”
“No, Dad. I’m still the same Sophia. Please, don’t send me to Europe. I want to make my company bigger.”
Victor didn’t answer. He looked away then took two steps back
“Mom?” Sophia voiced her last wish. However, her mother show
same response.
While Sophia grimaced in disapproval, someone knocked on the do When he was allowed to enter, he showed a bright smile.
“Sorry to interrupt, Sir, Madam. Mister Harper has just dropped the charges. Miss Moore can be released.”
Victor raised his eyebrows slightly, muttering, “As expected.” Then, embracing his wife’s waist, he walked through the door.
“Can I leave our daughter here for a moment? Don’t let her get away. Later, my men will pick her up.”
Sophia gaped. She understood that she would be immediately sent to Europe.
“Dad, please listen to me. I don’t want to go anywhere. My place is here. My dreams are also here.”
She tried to break through, but the officer restrained her. “Sorry, Miss Moore. Your father won’t let you out!”
“Dad?”
Victor was completely unfazed. Even though Sophia’s tears shed, his expression remained frozen. “Be kind, Sophia. Don’t embarrass your family.”
A second later, he glanced at the officer. “Perform your duties.”
“Yes, Sir.” With a light push, the uniformed man pushed Sophia
backwards.
“Dad? Mom? Please forgive me. Don’t throw me away. I want to stay
here!”
As if the voice didn’t exist, Victor turned back down the hall. Toget
with his wife, he returned to their car. Inside there, a man was waiti He sat in the seat facing backward.
“Good morning, Mr. and Mrs. Moore. I have finished gathering information,” he said, clenching his fists.
Instead of being happy, Victor’s gaze dimmed. “Didn’t I assign you to watch over Sophia? Why is everything so messy?”
The man gasped. Looking down, he gathered courage in his lungs.
“Sorry, Sir, I have actually reminded Miss Moore several times, but
she didn’t want to listen.”
Patricia waved her hand. “Never mind. The situation can’t be
changed. Now tell me, who took part in bringing down Sophia?”
The man quickly opened his bag. After a few moments, he put Finnic’s photo on the folding table between Victor and Patricia’s
seats.
“First, your son-in-law. The cause of her reckless behavior was her doubts about Finnic. Besides, I discovered that Finnic was
collaborating with Frank Harper. I will explain this later.”
Next, Frank and Kara’s photo was placed next to Finnic’s.
“Secondly, this couple. As we know, Kara Harper is Finnic’s ex- girlfriend. I suspect that Miss Moore is jealous of her. Maybe that’s also one of the reasons she’s targeting Frank Harper. Apart from that, I think you already understand Frank’s role in spreading bad news
about Miss Moore.”
While Victor studied Frank’s face, the informant put down a photo of
Melanie.
“In order to make her wish come true, Miss Moore used Melanie
Harris. Mrs. Harris agreed to help Miss Moore. She also suppor her plan to take Frank Harper from Kara. But apparently, Miss Mo changed the agreement. Mrs. Harris felt betrayed. Then, she turned side with her son, dragging Miss Moore down in front of the media
Victor lifted Melanie’s picture and looked at it more closely. After squinting for a few seconds, he dropped it with a look of indifference.
“Who else is there?”
The informant took out a picture of Ava. “This is the nurse Miss Moore trusted to take care of Melanie. Ava Connor. She agreed to.
help because Miss Moore paid for all the care for her mother who has been in a coma for the last few months.”
“Why did she dare to disobey?”

“Frank Harper found out what Miss Moore had done to his mother. Apparently, he put pressure on Ava. When the video of Mrs. Harris’ testimony was released, I received news that Ava’s mother had been transferred from the previous hospital. Most likely, Frank Harper
guaranteed her mother’s safety if she wanted to side with them. And the transfer of the patient was possible because of Finnic’s help.”
Victor grabbed his chin. “Is Sophia really my daughter? Why is she so stupid and careless? What’s the point of me teaching her all this time?
Patricia quickly grabbed her husband’s arm. “It must be because our daughter is too stressed, Darling. She’s too ambitious to have Frank in her grasp.”
“Whatever it is, still, she’s a disgrace”
Hearing the small debate, the informant cleared his throat. “Sorry, Sir. There’s still one more.”
He put down a picture of Jeremy. “This is Frank’s brother. His name is Jeremy Harper. He played a big role in helping Frank attack Miss Moore.”
Victor nodded. “You’ve analyzed them?”
The informant took out another stack of photos. “It’s easy to find their weaknesses, Sir. They’re all the same type.”
