S31 70. Unrepeatable Moment
“You finished assessing me?”
Ava blinked. “Me what?”
Jeremy turned his head. “Haven’t you been judging me? You haven’t stopped looking at me.”
“I’m not looking at you,” Ava shook her head stiffly.
“Okay, correction. You glanced at me.”
Ava snorted. However, before she could say any words, Jeremy said, ” You don’t have to think about it. I’m used to being like this, and I feel
comfortable. I don’t like attracting attention.”
Ava’s eyebrows rose faintly. Her eyes trembled as she watched him. Aren’t you sad about being treated differently from your brother?”
Jeremy shrugged. “Is that any good?”
While Ava was astonished, he let out a faint sigh. “Let’s go. You s have to get medicine at the hospital, right?”
Seeing Jeremy walking first carefree, Ava fell silent. A strange feeli crept into her chest. She seemed to see herself in Jeremy.
“Do you want me to take your hand?
Ava gasped again. However, just as she was about to respond, Abigail’s voice caught their attention.
“Jeremy! Wait!” The girl waved as she approached them. Her expression was serious, not as cheerful as usual.

Two minutes earlier….
When she turned towards the departure gate, Diana’s eyebrows immediately furrowed. Her breathing was heavy, her steps a little. halting.
“Grandma, are you sure you don’t want to talk to Jeremy?”
Diana gasped. “What are you talking about?”
“Since your first meeting at the farm until now, I have never seen you
two talking together. You seem to be closer to Frank. You’re also close to Vivian Bell. But why not to Jeremy?”
Diana let out a long sigh. The burden in her heart felt heavier.
At the beginning of her meeting with Jeremy, she was carried away by emotions. She ignored him, just like the others.
However, when she realized that they were innocent, Diana was too busy making amends to Frank, Kara, and the twins. Jeremy really never got her attention.
“Grandma, they’re starting to walk towards the parking lot,” Abigail whispered, looking back once more.
Diana stopped her steps. Taking a deep breath, she let consid occupy her focus.
“If you want to talk to Jeremy, do it now, while you have the chal wouldn’t be funny if we flew straight back when we landed. Even though Frank doesn’t mind paying for the ticket, it could be considered a waste.”
Diana swallowed hard. She finally looked over her shoulder. Jerer just stopped in his track. He seemed to be talking to Ava about something.
“Is there still enough time?”
Abigail’s eyebrows arched high. “Yes. Shall I call him?”
As soon as she got a nod from Diana, Abigail raised her hand. Jeremy! Wait!”
Diana could see the man was surprised to see Abigail running. However, he remained silent until Abigail arrived in front of him.
“Jeremy,” while catching her breath, Abigail pointed at Diana,” Grandma wants to talk to you. Do you have time?”
Π
Jeremy’s eyebrows twitched. “Grandma… wants to talk to me?” He
sounded incredulous.
Abigail nodded. “Go see her. I can take care of check-in and you two can chat until it’s time to fly.”
Ava silently observed Jeremy. However, the man’s expression was too frozen. It was difficult for her to read Jeremy’s heart and mind. Even when he sat opposite Diana, his expression was still flat.
“You said there was something you needed to discuss with me. What is it, Grandma?”
Diana cleared her throat. Her eyes didn’t dare to look directly at Jeremy. “How are you?”
Jeremy’s forehead frowned slightly. “Good.”
Diana almost cringed. She realized her question was stupid. How after rubbing her neck, she was finally able to control herself.
“Are you okay even though I seem cold to you?”
Jeremy’s lips pursed. “I don’t think you’re being cold to me. Isn’t th just your nature? Talking as needed and in moderation? Besides, don’t really have a topic to talk about.”
Jeremy’s nod deepened Diana’s guilt.
“I’m sorry that I only have time to tell you this now. But, I’m very
grateful that you came with the others to my farm.”
Jeremy was silent for a moment, before muttering, “It’s a fun holiday. I’d be missing out if I didn’t go.”
Diana hissed. “Actually, I accidentally overheard your conversation with that girl.”
Jeremy’s eyes twitched for a moment. “Sophia?”
Diana smiled. “Yes. That’s what made me change my mind. I felt guilty towards all of you and started to make amends. But….”
Diana took a deep breath. “I’m too shy to face you. It’s like you can read my whole heart.”
“Frank can read that too.”
“But you were the one who made me realize. It was your words that hit me. Moreover,” Diana’s eyes began to mist, “when she asked you why you didn’t speak directly to me, you said I had never looked you in the eyes. You called my attitude cold and heartless. You said I always think badly of you guys.”
Another sigh escaped Diana’s mouth. “That’s what makes me awkward dealing with you. Maybe, I’m afraid of being criticize again.”
While Diana looked down, Jeremy was pensive. A strange feelin tickled his heart. As the warmth spread, the corners of his lips faintly.
“You don’t need to be afraid anymore, Grandma. My opinion has changed. You have proven that your true nature is not like that.”
Diana raised her eyebrows. “Really?”
Jeremy widened his smile. “Yes. You are warm and caring. You are patient in fulfilling your promise to the twins. Even though, you are
bit tired.”
“You noticed that?”
Jeremy nodded. “The others know too, but we don’t want to ruin an unrepeatable moment. Besides, you enjoy it as a penance, right?”
Little by little, the corners of Diana’s lips rose. Pride radiated from her eyes. “The woman who becomes your wife will be truly lucky, Jeremy. You are not only caring, but also understanding.”
“You’re the first person to judge me like that, Grandma.”
