S31 85. The Next Mission
Louis widened his smile. “I’ll remember your names well. Who knows, maybe we’ll meet again another day. We can repay your kindness when it happens.”
“Oh, you’re so cute. What are your names, Sweet Kids?”
“I’m Louis and this is my sister, Emily. We are twins, only a few minutes apart. I was born first,” Louis explained in a proud tone.
“Oh, okay. I’ll remember that too. See you later, Louis, Emily.”
The twins waved with a sweet smile. As the young couple looked away, their expressions immediately turned serious.
“Emily, that’s the car! Come on, help me get the key. Do you still remember the steps we discussed earlier?”
Emily nodded. Then, they approached the car. They didn’t care about the warning signs posted there at all.
“It is prohibited to touch the car or take the key. Violators will be ed $10,000.”
When no one was paying attention, Louis carefully lifted the gla box. Emily swiftly grabbed the key and replaced it with Louis’ rubbe eraser. Its shape was a flat box and the color was black. At first glance, no one would notice that the keys had been swapped.
“See? Isn’t this very easy?” Louis shrugged proudly. “Now let’s go in quietly.”
Louis reached out his hand. Just before he touched the car door
handle, Emily grabbed his arm.
“Wait, Louis. You haven’t unlocked it with the remote. What if the
1/5
alarm goes off?” Emily whispered while glancing right and left.
“Don’t worry, Emily. This car has a keyless entry system. If you bring the key close to the car, it will open and start automatically. Unless, someone turns off the function.”
Louis pulled the lever. But apparently, the door failed to open.
“Will the car make a sound if you open it via remote?”
Louis pressed the button without Emily’s consent. The car’s rearview mirror instantly opened. The light flashed twice. However, no sound was heard.
“Phew, we’re safe.” Louis stroked his chest then opened the door.”
Come in.”
Emily complied. Once the two of them were in the car, they checked the surroundings. Miraculously, no one noticed. From the outside, the carv
windows looked dark.
“Okay, now we hide here until Daddy comes. Emily, it’s your turn to
take action.”
“Okay.” Emily raised her hands to the bun of her hair. Carefully, s took out a strapless smart watch from inside.
“It’s there? You are awesome!” Louis gave thumbs up.
While turning on her watch, Emily smiled faintly. “Thank you. Now let’s call Daddy.”
Unfortunately, a minute later, they still could not contact Frank.
“Why is Daddy’s number not active?” Emily frowned worriedly.
“Maybe Daddy is on his way. How about we call Mommy? I want to tell her about the success of our mission!”
“Just say that you want to show off this car.” Emily grumbled.
However, she still made a video call to Kara.
Meanwhile, Kara was busy dealing with a sobbing Barbara. Since waking up from fainting, the girl had been constantly lamenting Philip’s fate. However, thanks to Kara’s phone ringing, her tears were suppressed.
“Is it Philip? Or someone who saved Philip?”
Kara checked her phone. Seeing the name that appeared, she widened her eyes. “Emily?”
She rushed to receive the call. Two round faces immediately greeted her. “Mommy!”
Kara covered her laughter with one hand. Happiness rose in her eyes. “Little Angels? How are you guys doing?”
“We’re fine, Mommy. We ate a lot earlier and fell asleep. But now, we’re hiding in this car.”
“Mommy, you should know how great we were.”
Louis told Kara about their mission. His enthusiasm was fiery. Hearing that, Ava joined in beside Kara.
“Were you guys really kidnapped? You look like… you’re not being kidnapped.”
The twins chuckled. After that, they told Ava about what training they had received and applied today. Their voices were cheerful until
Barbara’s sobs caught their ears.
“Mommy, why is Auntie crying?”
The tension that had subsided suddenly flared up again.
Unfortunately, before Kara had time to answer, Barbara said, “Philip had an accident. His car overturned and exploded. Until now, we haven’t had any news about him.”
In an instant, the twins’ faces turned gloomy. Their lips pursed. Their shoulders drooped.
“Is what Auntie said true, Mommy? Philip had a serious accident?”
“Philip couldn’t have died, right?”
Kara couldn’t lie. “Yes, Philip had an accident, but Daddy and Mommy are sure that he is safe. Don’t think too much about that, hmm? Just focus on surviving. Wait until Daddy picks you up. When you go home, Philip will definitely be back.”
The twins nodded. Their hopes had somewhat dimmed. However, before Kara had time to recover their spirits, several men in black suits had run and stood around the car. From the entrance, Victor stepped out with a furious face.
Emily gasped when she realized his presence. Without thinking, she buried herself in the seat. She didn’t care if Louis’ face was out of the frame. The important thing was to be more alert.
