S31 105. Ava Gets Weird
Ava didn’t know how long she had been hiding. She didn’t dare look at the clock. She felt like she wanted to disappear from the world, to escape from the tough choices she didn’t want to make.
Unfortunately, when she started to feel better, someone knocked on the door. Ava had to wipe her face and check.
“Mrs. Melanie?”
“Have you forgotten me? Luckily I’m independent. I take my own breakfast, take my own medicine, and listen to audio recordings myself. What are you doing here? Are you sick?”
Ava hid her face in the shadow of her head. “Sorry, Madam. I’m feeling unwell today. So, have you taken care of everything?”
“Yeah, I even did my own hair this morning. Look! Isn’t it beautiful?” Melanie spun around and showed off her bun.
Ava wanted to smile but failed. “Beautiful.”
Melanie chuckled. “No wonder the servants couldn’t stop looking me. By the way….”
She handed Ava a small box. “I took the package from Barbara earlier. It turns out there is a package for you. So I deliver it here.”
Ava accepted it with a confused expression. “Thank you, Madam.”
As Melanie left, Ava brought the box inside. She examined it from all angles. There was nothing written there.
Slowly, her heart turned heavy again. A bad feeling loomed over her mind. After shaking her head, Ava opened the box.
“Gosh!”

Ava spontaneously withdrew her hand and stepped back. The hair that filled the box spilled out.
Ava knew whose hair it was. The color was dark brown and the texture was slightly rough.
Ava swallowed hard. With trembling hands, she poured out the contents. A photo paper rolled. Finding nothing else, Ava let out a sigh of relief. At least, she knew Eva’s body was still intact.
Suddenly, her phone vibrated. Ava answered the call silently.
“Good morning, Miss Connor. Have you received my package?”
Ava gritted her teeth. “Why did you send this piece of hair? You want me to put it in Jeremy’s food?”
Patricia laughed out loud. “No, it was just a reminder. I got news that Jeremy was still going to the office this morning, so I thought you needed some motivation. Have you unrolled the paper from me?”
Ava picked up a slippery piece of paper tied with a black ribbon from the floor. After opening it, she could see Eva being tied to a chair. Beside her, there was a table with lots of equipment.
“You know what happens if you fail to fulfill your mission within 2 hours, right? I will send your sister home in installments.”
While Patricia chuckled, Ava bit her lip, keeping it from shaking too
much.
“Don’t do that,” she asked quietly. She realized it was in vain.
“Oh, don’t cry. I won’t hurt your sister, as long as … you carry out your duties. In the corner of the photo paper, I have equipped you with a
weapon.”
Ava looked at the two pills stuck to the picture. At first glance, the shape and color resembled vitamins, but she knew the contents were

deadly.
“I heard that the Harper family has a habit of taking supplements. I checked Jeremy’s list. So, I made special pills that resembled his
nightly supplements.”
Ava looked down and closed her eyes. Her head shook helplessly. “I
can’t do this.”
“You can do it, Darling. You don’t need to use a syringe anymore. All you have to do is switch the supplement secretly. If you fail, the consequences could be fatal.”
Ava sighed in resignation. She couldn’t kill Jeremy, but she also couldn’t bear to sacrifice Eva..
“Isn’t there another way? How about you just take my life? You also have a grudge against me, right?”
“That’s not fun. I want something more dramatic and suspenseful. So, give me an impressive show, hmm? That’s the only way your little sister can come home in one piece.”
Ava now looked up, keeping her tears from falling. “How just trap him? I can put Jeremy in prison. Considering what to your husband, that’s fair.”
“I don’t need negotiations. The decision is final. If tomorrow mo I see him leaving for work again, bear the consequences yourself.
Hearing the phone line disconnect, Ava dropped her hand. Tears flowed from the corners of her eyes.

“I will be crazy if I keep going like this,” she sighed softly. Pain began to numb the feelings in her heart.
“I can’t go on like this.” She raised her head with a blank look. Her face looked very tired.
T… Have to end this quickly.”
Witthaafflat look, Ava pulled the two pills from the papeertblding it, shrcnttered Jeremy’s room.
mastitorittime, Ava managed to find a supplement box thaahhadithe namassoffithe days written on it. The container had dividers thhat separated the seven boxes. The two boxes on the far left were ecppty, while theressi contained three supplements each.
I’m sorry Jeremy. You shouldn’t have believed me. I couldn’t possibilyly et them hurtuny sister.”
With shaking hands, Ava replaced two of the three supplements foor he day. After mourning it to its original place, she went back to cherr oom with a frozzen face. She was like a living corpse. When shee blinked, a singtectceanfell.
