S3 116. Sweet Request
Blinking gently, Jeremy fixed Ava’s clothes. “Now you are my lover. That means you are my choice, the best girl I have ever met. So, you can’t feel small or inferior anymore. You have to be strong and confident.”
A warm feeling surrounded Ava’s heart. Once again, Jeremy made a request that was far from selfish.
“I’ve never felt small,” Ava said vaguely. She didn’t want to be seen as pathetic by her lover.
“Are you sure?” Jeremy turned to straighten the hair that was messy due to his actions. “Then why did you let Eva bully you? I don’t like seeing that.”
Ava’s mouth opened, but didn’t utter a word. Jeremy was right. In front of Eva, who was always defended by her mother, she felt small.
“Next time, if someone bullies you, don’t hesitate to fight back. Yo don’t need to be afraid of the consequences. I’m behind you. If yo opponent is hard to beat, I’ll step forward.”
“But Eva is my sister. Hurting her is the same as hurting my mother.” Ava looked down. The next second Jeremy raised her chin with his finger.
“Defending yourself doesn’t mean hurting someone else. Sometimes you just need to speak up to do it. If your enemy is offended, it’s her own fault. She has chosen the wrong prey.”
Ava looked at Jeremy closely. Her hand now gripped his fingers.” Then what is the third point?”
“You agree with the second point?”
With a small smile, Ava nodded. “I am Mr. Harper’s future wife. I have a big name to keep. I understand what you mean.”
“Correction. You didn’t do that to protect anyone’s good name, but your own rights. No one in this world has the right to be treated lower than others. Even a criminal cannot be treated arbitrarily. There are rules for everything.”
Ava’s lips curled up slightly. She just found out that Jeremy was that wise. “Okay, I understand. What’s the third point?”
Jeremy pursed his mouth. His eyes dimmed a bit. “The third point seems a bit selfish, but I hope you don’t mind.”
Ava raised her eyebrows higher. She became increasingly interested. ” What is it?”
“Don’t let other men come into your room, hold your shoulders, or whisper to you. I don’t like that.”
Ava involuntarily let out a laugh. Her heart tingled with the sweet request. “Do you get jealous easily?”
Jeremy shrugged his shoulders helplessly. “I just found out too. It feels like my chest is hot, my body is burning. So please, keep your distance from any man.”
Ava’s lips trembled to hold back laughter. “Since when do you worry about the impossible? Aren’t you a logical person?”
“Nothing is impossible in this world, Ava, especially when it comes to love. You’ve heard that love can make people change and be irrational, right?”
“But I’ve never been close to any man, Jeremy. Only you. You saw the proof for yourself last night. I think your request on this one is a bit ridiculous.”
“Are you sure you’ve never been close to any men?” Jeremy raised an eyebrow. “Have you never walked around crying? Then a man came up to you, held your shoulders, bent down and whispered to you? He asked you what happened, what had made you cry.”
Ava let out a sigh of laughter. She thought Jeremy was joking. “Where would a man ask me that? Only you”
Ava’s words were muffled by Bryan’s shadow. Knowing that he was the man Jeremy was referring to, she gasped.
“Are you jealous of Senior Bryan?”
Jeremy froze for a moment. “Yes, I don’t like seeing other men comfort you. Only I can. Understand?”
Seeing Jeremy put aside his pride to admit it, Ava’s heart was touched. Even though it was still awkward, she cupped his face.
“You know what? Jealousy can be a sign that someone feels insecure. With you like this, what is the reason you feel insecure?”
Jeremy was stunned. Ava had never spoken with such a gentle voic and gaze. “Me like what?”
Ava’s eyes narrowed. She knew Jeremy was deliberately fishing. While suppressing her embarrassment, she took the bait.
“Handsome and full of authority.” She stroked Jeremy’s cheek with her thumb. “The man who defended me from Mom and Eva. The one who made my birthday feel special The hero who carried me out of the car after the accident.”
After a moment’s hesitation, Ava finally gave Jeremy a short kiss. “I would be the stupidest woman to waste a man like you. So you don’t need to be jealous, Jeremy.”
The man lifted the corners of his lips higher. While tilting his head, he
noticed every shape on the girl’s face which he considered perfect.
“Then promise me one more thing.”
“What?”
Jeremy pulled one of Ava’s hands to his lips. After one kiss, he whispered, “Remember that you are the only girl I really love and want to marry. Remember that I want to spend my whole life with you. I will be very tormented if I am separated from you.”
Ava blinked slowly. “You know what you say is too beautiful to believe?”
“But that’s what’s in my heart. Remember it carefully. That way, no matter what obstacles come our way, you won’t have the heart to leave me.”
While stroking Ava’s pale face, Jeremy smiled sincerely. “You’re the only woman who managed to warm my heart, Ava. Without you, the world feels frozen again. My feelings become more alive with your presence. So, are you willing to remember that?”
Ava’s eyes sparkled with emotion. “Yes, I will remember that. I wil always be by your side.”
“Well then,” Jeremy reached for his trousers and reached into the pocket. After a few moments, he reached out his hand, as if offering something. “Will you wear a ring from me?”
