S31 122. Point Number One
“My blessing?” Mrs. Connor’s eyebrows rose high. After one blink, she sighed in resignation. “Your hallucinations are really bad, Ava.”
Eva put on a pitiful look. “That’s what I meant, Mom. You have to warn her. She could get worse if she doesn’t get a serious warning.”
Mrs. Connor nodded faintly. Her gaze then turned to her biological daughter. “If you kept mentioning your relationship with him, you better get out of my sight. Don’t expect me to give you a blessing. You won’t heed my advice.”
Aya’s tears thickened. At the same time, her blood was boiling, her heart ignited by anger.
“What if I could prove it? What if Mr. Harper came to you now and confirmed everything I said?” Her tone rose. Her voice almost broke.
“Then you will pay for his play with extra service tonight?” Eva replied.
Ava gasped. “Do you think someone like Mr. Harper would do such a reckless thing?”
Before Ava had time to explain further, Mrs. Connor waved her hand towards the door. “Get out, Ava. I want to talk to your sister. Your being here is just stressing me out.”
“But, Mom, Mr. Harper and I are dating. Can you see this?” Ava pointed her finger. “His gave me this ring as proof of his sincerity.”
Eva widened her eyes and tilted her head forward. No matter how
many times she blinked, nothing could be seen.
“Are you crazy?” Eva snorted triumphantly. She was entertained by Ava’s performance.

“You’re the one who’s crazy, Eva. A sane sister will always support her sister, but you never get tired of ruining my happiness.”
“Ava! If you still consider me your mother, do your nonsense outside!”
Ava gasped. She didn’t know that her mother could yell.
“You still don’t believe me? Are you taking Eva’s side, like you’ve always done?” Ava’s disappointment almost spilled over, but was held back by annoyance.
“Don’t make me repeat it, Ava. I’m so tired of you. Get out! My head is starting to hurt from hearing your bullshit.”
Mrs. Connor was about to lie down again. Eva helped her with a pitying face.
“Oh, I’m so sorry, Mom.” Then with innocently furrowed brows, she glanced at Ava. “Sister, please behave properly. Don’t make a fuss again. Poor Mom.”
Ava’s bland laugh was in the air. She was the one who should feel tired, not Eva or their mother.
“If you don’t believe me, that’s fine. I don’t need your blessing to get married. I deserve to be happy too, Mom. I’ve given in enough. I don’t want to sacrifice anymore for Eva’s happiness. That’s enough! I can’t oppress you any longer.”
Mrs. Connor’s head, which had just touched the pillow, suddenly lifted. again. Her eyes were perfectly round.
“What did you say? Now you want to be a brat?”
“You yourself decided not to give me your blessing. It’s not me who doesn’t respect you, but you who don’t think of me as a daughter.”
Mrs. Connor blinked with her mouth agape. She never knew that Ava had such a “rebellious side”.

“Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to contact Jeremy. I should have agreed to get married when he asked me yesterday. There’s no point in delaying to ask for support that is impossible for me to get.”
Ignoring Eva’s cynical gaze, Ava turned towards the door. She didn’t want to ruin her defense with tears. Eva must not know that her heart
was shaken.
As soon as Ava came out, the guards flinched. However, their expressions were flat, as if they didn’t hear anything. Even so, Ava was still embarrassed by them. She lowered her head, walking quickly looking for a hiding place. Her fists were cold and hard.
بات
Right at that time, hurried footsteps caught her attention. When she raised her head, her eyes trembled violently.
“Jeremy?”
“Ava?” Jeremy slowed down. “Am I late?”
Ava’s tears instantly thickened, reflecting more sadness. “Why are you here? Shouldn’t you be working in the office? Your work could be delayed again.”
Jeremy shook his head faintly. “I went home when I got the report from the gate guard. Why did you let her in? You violated point
number one.”
Biting her lip, Ava wrapped her arms around Jeremy. “I’m sorry. I just. wanted to prove point number two to you, that I can’t be bullied
anymore.”
“Did it work?” Jeremy enveloped Ava in warmth.
Ava gathered her gaze. A twinkle in her eye gave the answer.
“It’s okay, Ava. You’ve done your best. At least, they know you can defend yourself.”

“They thought I was hallucinating. My mother even threw me out of her room. She didn’t want to give us her blessing. Because of that, I said I didn’t need her blessing anymore. Am I impudent daughter?”
Jeremy shook his head. “It was Eva who was impudent. She
separated you from your mother.”
Ava’s eyebrows lowered further. Her lips escaped a faint sigh. “I’m sorry if my family didn’t welcome you the way your family welcomed me.”
“It doesn’t matter to me. What’s important is that you stay with me.”
As Jeremy kissed her pale face, Ava closed her eyes, suppressing the turmoil in her heart. Then, with teary eyes, she absorbed Jeremy’s gentle gaze.
“Because I’m not waiting for her blessing anymore, I won’t refuse if you ask me to marry you.”
Jeremy’s eyebrows rose. “Are you sure?”
Ava nodded slowly. “I don’t want to make any more sacrifices for Eva. I’m tired of expecting my mother to treat us the same way. I want to make myself happy-do everything according to my wishes. I want to marry you.”
The corners of Jeremy’s lips turned up slightly. His eyes radiated various feelings.
