S3 155. Besieged
While looking through the list of voice recordings, Frank muttered, ” Yes, I don’t think there’s any harm in using our enemy’s tricks for a counterattack. Eva has already been inside their fortress. She knows more clearly where the gaps are. For that, thank you, Miss Connor.”
“So Eva is a good person now? She’s no longer our enemy?” Emily’s eyes widened.
Suddenly, Louis stepped forward and held out his hand. “I’m sorry, Eva. I thought you were an enemy. If I had known you had become a friend, I wouldn’t have pointed a gun at you.”
With a crooked smile, Eva looked at Louis. “Aren’t you afraid to shake hands with me? What if I grab you and do something bad?”
“If that happens, then you will immediately flounder and pass out. I still have a gun, remember? Don’t mess with me.”
Louis showed his gun next to his head. A small laugh escaped Eva’s mouth. She greeted Louis then looked around at the stunned people.
“Sorry if I’m just choosing the right side now. Sometimes, it takes a while for someone to see from the right perspective, especially
someone with a towering ego wall.”
“Then now, the wall is gone?” Ava asked with a stiff expression but
teary eyes.
“It’s still there, but it’s not as big as before. Maybe it’s as tall as Louis. now. But at least, it’s not blocking my view anymore.”
Louis’ eyes narrowed. “Why am I the benchmark? Emily is shorter than me.”
Emily pouted. “Just accept the facts, Louis. You’re short too. But

that’s not a case. We both are still small.”
While the others laughed, Ava moved closer to Eva. She embraced her, sighing happily, “Thank you for siding with us. I’m grateful you’re here.”
Unexpectedly, Eva frowned. “Ugh, I don’t need this drama. Did you
forget that I don’t like hugging? This is awkward.” She patted Ava’s arm to get away from her.
Smiling, Ava returned the distance, “Yeah, I know it’s awkward, but we’re worth trying. We’re sisters. We don’t need to fight anymore, Eva.”
As Eva snorted, denying the emotion in her heart, Louis approached Emily and put his arm around her shoulders.
“Yeah, siblings shouldn’t be embarrassed. Emily and I often hug. That means we love each other.”
“I agree with that. But Louis, please don’t ruin my hair. Loosen your hug a little.” Emily tried to free her hair that was trapped between her shoulder and Louis’ hand.
“Oh, sorry.” Louis strangled Emily’s neck.
“Louis!”
Ava smiled faintly watching the two toddlers. When her eyes returned to Eva, she let out a faint sigh. “So, can you come to my wedding later?”
“Let’s take it step by step, Ava. Don’t be too aggressive. Now, let’s just focus on this party, okay? I’m hungry. Where’s the bride?”
At that moment, Barbara and Philip walked in side by side. The spotlight was directly focused on them. The music played softly to match their relaxed steps.
“Look! Auntie and Uncle are finally out.” Emily pointed her finger

before cupping her cheek. “Oh, Auntie is so beautiful. Her dress must

“Woohoo! That means the party has officially started!”
While the others cheered and clapped, Frank walked lightly towards Jeremy. “Did it work?”
“Yes, the drone has been secured. Our team has also finished
searching. The drone is indeed connected to Patricia.”
“Good. Then, we have enough evidence now.” Frank handed Eva’s phone to Jeremy. “Send all these audio recordings to the police and get them moving. The sooner you finish, the sooner you can dance
with Ava.”
Jeremy snorted in amusement. “Ava doesn’t like dancing, and neither
do I. We’re more comfortable sitting around watching people.”
With a small smile, Frank whispered, “You have to learn how to have fun, Jer. Don’t be too stiff. While you two are still together, enjoy it. It will be different when you have children.”
“Are you just sharing your feelings to me?”
Frank patted his brother’s shoulder. “Do your job then enjoy the party. I want to have fun. My wife is waiting.”
Jeremy shook his head watching Frank half-running towards Kar After a blink, his eyes shifted towards Ava. Seeing the girl just standing while hugging herself, the corners of his lips lifted.
“Yes, you’re right. Ava and I have to learn how to have fun.”
Wasting no time, Jeremy did his job. After that, he mingled with the others, enjoying the music, food, and togetherness.

geeky girl fail to carry out her mission?” Patricia grumbled, making her assistant lower his head.
“Sorry, Madam, Maybe, she’s looking for the right moment to catch the target off guard. Putting something in food is not easy.”
Suddenly, Patricia slammed her hand on the table. The assistant’s neck was bent to the maximum.
“Why is everyone so terrible? It’s an easy task, but no one could do it properly. Should I be the one to jump in?”
The man at her side stuttered. “Sorry, Ma’am. But our opponents are the Harper family. They’re pretty tough.”
“Don’t you realize that your stupidity makes my family look weak?” While gritting her teeth, Patricia closed her eyes for a moment. “When else do they have parties?”
“In two weeks, Mrs. Jeremy Harper and Ava Connor’s wedding.”
“Find a way for me to gain access and prepare some weapons! A gun is fine. I’m really sick of seeing their family laugh at my family’s suffering. They have to suffer too!”
