S31 164. Surprise or Trap
“Babe, wait here. Don’t come in until I say it’s safe,” Philip whispered while stroking his wife’s hair.
However, when he was about to approach the door, Barbara held his hand. “Don’t, Phil.”
Barbara shook her head quickly. Her eye bags suddenly became thick. “Don’t go in. What if there’s a trap inside or someone is ready to attack with a weapon? I don’t want you to get hurt.”
Cupping Barbara’s cheek, Philip closed their distance. His eyes radiated seriousness. “You forgot who I am? I’m your brother’s best bodyguard. No one can hurt me. So relax, hmm?”
Barbara still shook her head. “But we promised to always be together.
I don’t want to let you face the enemy alone.”
Barbara gripped Philip’s arm tighter. Worried that the reason wasn’t enough, she added, “Besides, I’m afraid to wait here alone.”
Philips studied her face more closely. After a brief moment of
consideration, he finally let out a faint sigh. “Okay, you can go with me, but stay close.”
“Okay.” Barbara nodded quickly. A second later, she stood behind Philip.
Suddenly, the door opened wider. A girl appeared. Philip spontaneously threw his fist.
“Ah…!”
Philip missed. The girl was ducking to protect her head with both hands.
“Please forgive me! I’m not a bad person!”
Hearing that familiar voice, Barbara’s neck perked up. Her eyes
rounded over Philip’s shoulder. “Nora?”
Barbara quickly came out from behind Philip’s back, helping the girl to her feet. “Jeez, why did you appear suddenly? You surprised us.”
“Sorry, Miss,” Nora muttered with a pale face.
“What are you doing here? You’re lucky I stopped my blow. Otherwise, you would have been knocked out, Philip continued with furrowed eyebrows.
Nora put on a sullen look and looked down. “Sorry, Sir. I got orders from Mrs. Melanie to clean up your apartment secretly.”
“Mom? Why? I have a family now. She should know that I want to be independent,” Barbara shook her head in disapproval.
“Your mother was worried that you were tired of taking care of everything by yourself at once. I was actually going to leave earlier. But I just realized I forgot to put the napkin back in its place. I was afraid you would get suspicious. But it turns out, you arrived early.”
Raising her eyebrows, Barbara straightened her index finger. “Next time, don’t enter here without telling us. Understand? That’s a
violation.”
“Understood, Miss.”
A second later, Barbara raised her hand. “Where’s the key?”
Nora handed over an access card. “Here, Miss. Once again, sor didn’t mean to disturb you. I was just carrying out orders.”
After sighing in resignation, Barbara lowered her eyebrows. “Okay. We forgive you. But next time, don’t do it. You could lose your life if you get hit by Philip’s fist.”
“Yes, Miss. Now if you’ll excuse me, I don’t want to disturb you any
longer.”
The newlyweds nodded in unison.
“Can you walk?” Barbara looked at Nora’s knees which were still
shaking.
Nora grimaced. “Yes. See you later, Miss, Sir. Congratulations on your wedding.”
However, before Nora had time to turn around, Philip interrupted.”
Nora, do you realize that you made a mistake earlier?”
Not only Nora, but Barbara was also wide-eyed. “Mistake?”
“She keeps calling you Miss.” Philip put his arm around Barbara’s
shoulders. “The truth is you are my wife.”
Nora’s mouth rounded. “Oh my! I should have called you Mrs. Martin.”
“Exactly right.” Philip smiled proudly.
Meanwhile, Barbara blushed. “I forgot it too. I still feel unfamiliar with the new nickname. It feels like Susan Martin was called, not me.”
Philip pursed his lips at the thought. “Do you think Mrs. Barbara is better?”
“You don’t mind if people don’t call me by your last name?” Ba
tilted her head.
Philip shrugged. “It’s not a big problem for me. We need a distinct What a coincidence, my last name is the same as Kara’s family’s la
name.”
“What do you think, Nora?”
Nora blinked innocently. “I think Mrs. Barbara makes things easier.”

“Then, from now on, just call my wife Mrs. Barbara. Let outsiders call her Mrs. Martin.”
Barbara smiled slightly. She likes the very understanding side of her husband.
Unknown to them, as soon as they entered, Nora took out her phone. She typed a message. “Target locked.” After the message was sent, she hurriedly got into the elevator.
Meanwhile, Barbara grumbled as Philip closed the door. “I’m really confused about my mother. I’m an adult, but why does she think I’m still a child?”
“That’s because she really loves you. Just look at the positive side, Babe.”
Putting his arm around Barbara’s waist, Philip invited her to walk. Now, let’s take care of our house. Where do you want to start?”
Barbara glanced around. Their apartment looked like it’s brand new. What needs to be taken care, Phil? Everything is neat and dust-free.”
Philip blinked. He did ask the renovation team to prepare everything. optimally, including arranging the furniture. He just didn’t expect that their work could be so perfect.
“Isn’t there anything you want to change? The curtains for example?”
Barbara tapped her chin for a moment. “No. I like everything in th room, especially this new wallpaper The colors and patterns are ver beautiful.”
“Then, let’s check the other rooms. We have to make sure all the corners and sides of this apartment are beautiful and comfortable.” Philip pushed Barbara’s shoulder. A small smile graced both of their faces. But a few steps later, the sound of the engine froze their feet
