S31 190. Brave Kid
Seeing a huge rattlesnake shaking its tail, Louis gasped. He quickly threw his bag in front of Emily’s feet, making it a barrier in case the
snake attacked.
“Come on, Emily! Get up quickly!” Louis grabbed her’s arm.
With tears streaming down her cheeks, Emily tried to gather strength in her legs. Just when she managed to get up, Frank picked her up and hugged her tightly.
“Are you okay, Princess? The snake didn’t bite you, right?” He patted the trembling little back.
Wiping her face with the back of her hand, Emily shook her head. “No, but I was very scared. The snake looked angry at me. In fact, I was just looking for the sound.”
Frank breathed a sigh of relief. “The snake was angry because it felt threatened. Next time, if there’s a sound like that, don’t come any closer, hmm?”
After getting a nod from the princess, Frank turned to Lo been pulled back by Jeremy.
“Are you okay too, Buddy?”
Louis nodded with a serious expression. “Yes, I was very sur when Emily screamed earlier. I thought she had been attacked luckily, the snake was still there. I quickly lowered my bag so it wouldn’t come close.”

Frank rubbed Louis’ head. “Well done, Buddy. You were great. Your quick actions were absolutely correct. You managed to save your

As Louis’ tension faded, a small smile spread on his face. “Thank you, Daddy. I just did what I was supposed to do.”
Frank nodded. In his heart, he felt guilty for letting the twins go first.
“Do you still want to continue the journey or do you want us to just go
home?”
Louis didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he looked up and saw the
girl who was hugging Frank’s neck tightly.
“It’s up to me, Emily,” he said wearily
Emily peeked over Frank’s neck. Her shoulders rose and fell, trying to
calm her sobs.
“I want to see the Mobius Arch and other beautiful rocks, but I don’t want to see snakes anymore,” she said while pouting.
“Do you want Daddy to carry you all the time?” Frank stroked Emily’s chubby cheek, wiping away any traces of tears from it.
Emily nodded. Her hand was reluctant to let go of his shoulder.
“Well then, let’s continue our journey Buddy, do you want to wa alone or should Daddy carry you too?”
“If you want, I can carry you,” Jeremy offered.
Louis frowned. “I can walk alone. I’m a man. I have to be brave a independent.” He nodded firmly while raising his fist.
Jeremy laughed faintly. “Then do you dare take your bag?”
Louis’ eyes immediately widened. His guts collapsed along with a hesitant sigh. However, before he had time to consider the risks, Frank hit Jeremy on the arm.
“Don’t test my son with such a danger. Hurry up and get his bag!”

Louis looked at Frank with teary eyes. When Jeremy took his bag, he whispered, “Thank you, Daddy. You have saved my pride as a man. Later, when I am big and as strong as you, I will definitely be brave enough to face that snake.”
“You’re welcome, Buddy.” He raised a fist. Louis silently greeted him with his tiny fist.

“But remember, no matter how much gut you have, you have to be careful. For now, don’t go too far from Daddy, okay?”
Louis nodded. “Okay, Daddy.”
After Louis slung his backpack, they started walking again. Emily shuddered as she watched the snake slither away, heading for
another rock.
“Emily, are you still afraid?” Louis asked when she was no longer
crying.
Emily blinked innocently. “I’m not afraid because Daddy is carrying me. Be careful, Louis. Pay attention to your left and right. If there is a sound like earlier, get away quickly.”
Instead of moving closer to Frank or Jeremy, Louis took a few s forward. Emily had to turn her head to see her twin again.
“You don’t need to be afraid, Emily. The snake won’t attack if it’s n disturbed. Actually, it was afraid of you. Especially when you screamed, its tail trembled faster. You’re scarier than that snake.”
Frank laughed lightly. “Rattlesnakes are poisonous snakes, Louis. Even though he’s not aggressive, we’d better stay away from them. That’s why we have to be careful when stepping on bushes or sitting on rocks. They could be hiding there

stop and rest on rocks like that. Look! A lizard has just run away. There must be a big snake down there.”
Emily subconsciously hugged Frank’s neck tighter. Her cheek rested on his shoulder again. “Daddy, are there snakes in Mobius Arch?”
“May be yes. But you have Daddy and Uncle Jeremy with you. You don’t need to be afraid.”
“And so do I!” Louis poked his own chest with his thumb. “If a snake attacks, I will throw my bag again.”
A second later, Louis demonstrated how “fierce” he would be if he met a snake. He groaned, making a scary face. Emily was finally able to laugh again.
“Kids, before we go to Mobius Arch, there is one rock that I want you to see. I think you will like it.”
Louis raised his eyebrows. “Really? Which stone?”
He turned around, expanding his observations. When he saw a rock that looked like an elephant sitting with its trunk look like gone into the ground, he was astonished.
