His Destructive, Toxic Love novel Chapter 128

Tristan also raised his glass high. "On behalf of every single member of the Welton family, here's to you, Eliza. We couldn't have done it without your hard work and dedication."

He expected her to respond with at least a polite remark. His gaze was filled with anticipation as he lifted his glass.

But she didn't say a word.

Silent, Eliza raised her glass and emptied it again.

Tristan smiled awkwardly. "Well then, I guess it's my turn to finish my drink."

Only Audrey looked at Eliza with a gaze filled with complexity and pity.

The spirits among the Welton family members were high, laughter and banter filling the air.

Eliza sat quietly, occasionally zoning out or lost in thought.

"Eliza, when are you going to have my little nephew for me to spoil?" Caroline asked her.

Eliza snapped back to reality. "Huh? What?"

Caroline grinned. "I mean, when will you and Casper give me a little nephew to dote on? When do I get to be an aunt?"

Eliza managed a wry smile.

Caroline had the chance to become an aunt, but Eliza no longer had the chance to become a mother again. She lowered her gaze without speaking, her eyes swirling with complex emotions.

Caroline mistook Eliza's silence for shyness and turned to Casper. "You need to put in more effort. It's been over two years since you got married. Come on, step it up."

"There’s no rush."

"If you want your grandfather to live another thirty years, you'd better hurry up," Tristan said with a hint of displeasure.

Casper glanced at Eliza beside him. She seemed a bit dazed, but it was a daze that brought out a natural beauty. He was captivated by the sight.
