"Ms. Nova, your lucky days are just around the corner," Faithe's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Hang tight, I'll come find you and spill all the details in person."
After hanging up, Faithe headed to the design department.
Nova personally brewed her a cup of top-notch coffee, wearing a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes. "Faithe, what do you mean by 'lucky days?’"
Faithe took the coffee from Nova, not rushing to answer. Instead, she first complimented Nova's outfit. "Ms. Nova, is that dress Chanel? It's gorgeous and makes you look like... well, like a lady of a grand estate."
"Faithe, quit teasing! Tell me already, what's this about lucky days?" Nova's anticipation was palpable. News from Faithe typically involved Casper.
Finally, Faithe set her coffee down, leaned in close, and whispered, "Mr. Casper is divorcing Eliza. So, don't you think your lucky days are finally coming?"
Nova felt a lump in her throat from the overwhelming surprise. She had waited years for this moment. Finally, he was getting a divorce.
"Really?" she stammered.
"Yes, Ms. Nova. Mr. Casper has always wanted to give you a proper status. Eliza just isn't fit to be Mrs. Welton, not like you. You’re young, beautiful, kind, and we get along so well."
Nova heard this and suddenly felt like she was already Casper’s wife. Her chin lifted a bit higher.
"Faithe, you're too kind." She turned, opened a drawer, and pulled out a necklace she had recently picked out from a boutique. "This doesn't quite suit me, but I think it would look perfect on you. Don't turn it down."
The necklace was from Tiffany's and was worth several thousand dollars.
Faithe, who adored the design, didn't hesitate. She reached out and accepted it. "Mrs. Welton, I'll accept it gratefully."
"We're not quite there yet," Nova said, but being called Mrs. Welton made her heart flutter.
Faithe, ever the shrewd flatterer, chimed in again, "Mrs. Welton, it's just a matter of time."
