His Destructive, Toxic Love novel Chapter 165

Eliza was finally discharged from the hospital and decided to check the company's intranet forum. To her surprise and relief, the posts accusing her of being a rapist’s sister were gone. Instead, the forum now featured a statement against defamation, emphasizing company image protection and banning rumor-mongering. This directive had come straight from the CEO’s office. The forum had quieted down considerably since then.

Still, Eliza was uncertain about returning to work.

Her phone buzzed with a message from Molly.

[Eliza, when are you planning to come back to work? You’ve used up all your annual leave.]

After a moment, Eliza replied, [I’ll be back at work tomorrow.]

[Come early. We have some arrangements for you.] Molly responded.

Eliza wondered what kind of arrangements Molly spoke of. Was it a dismissal? A salary deduction? Or something else?

Exhausted, she returned to her apartment from the hospital. Then, Dr. Sanders from the Wellness Medical Center called her.

“Eliza, you need to come to the hospital,” he said urgently.

“Is something wrong with my mom?” Eliza's heart sank.

“Your mom’s awake. You should come now.”

Her heart raced at the news. Without a second thought, Eliza grabbed a taxi straight to the hospital. At the entrance, she bumped into Aaron.

“Eliza,” he said, his face warm, his black and grey cashmere coat adding to his refined look. “I heard your mom woke up. That’s wonderful news.”

“I just got the call from Dr. Sanders. I can hardly express how I’m feeling,” Eliza said, her emotions a whirlwind of laughter and tears.

“Let’s not get too worked up,” he said, patting her back gently as they walked inside together.
