"So, you saw Nova and thought I was behind it? Not a tough leap to make."
Eliza's eyes were deep, avoiding his gaze and any admission. "I didn't suspect you; you had no reason to kidnap Brock. But if Nova's alive, she might come back for revenge."
Casper’s dark eyes dimmed. If Nova was truly alive, his first order of business would be dealing with her.
"I'll have Dillon look into it."
Dillon, upon receiving the message, was stunned for a while before asking Casper uncertainly, "Mr. Casper, you think Nova might still be alive? But... I shot her straight in the heart. Even if that didn't kill her, tossing her into the open sea should've drowned her. How could she still be alive?"
"How are you struggling to figure out something so simple?"
Casper was growing increasingly frustrated with Dillon's slowness. Lately, Dillon had been so dense that Casper wondered if he was lovesick.
Dillon furrowed his brows, nodding. "I don't quite get it."
"Someone must have rescued her. You left, and someone else came to save her; naturally, she didn’t die."
Dillon scratched his head, still puzzled. "But who would do that to her? She has no family, no friends..."
"It was Aaron."
No one else but him would have rescued Nova. Aaron and Nova had known each other before she met Casper. Aaron must have had his reasons for rescuing Nova.
"Dillon, check what dirty work Nova did for Aaron after she was rescued."
"Understood."
As Dillon turned to leave, Casper called him back, "After you've found out, bring her to me."
"Got it."
On Friday, Dillon came to see Casper with the information he had gathered.
