His Destructive, Toxic Love novel Chapter 414

"Will my wife... come back to me?" His eyes were locked onto hers, filled with a desperate longing.

Eliza carefully peeled off the old bandage and replaced it with a new, proper-sized adhesive, gently pressing it onto his face. She soothed him like he was a child, "Of course, she will."

"Promise?" He extended his pinky towards her, wanting a pinky swear.

Eliza looked at him, noting his childish demeanor. There was no point in arguing with a drunk man.

She hooked her pinky with his, "Alright, it's a promise."

But as she tried to pull her hand back, he tightened his grip, refusing to let go.

He just kept staring at her, his gaze intense and unreadable.

"Casper, let go, please."

"I won't." He pulled her into a tight embrace, causing her to fall against his chest. She hit him in frustration. "Casper, you're drunk. I won't hold it against you, but don't push it."

A faint smile played on his lips, his eyes crinkling at the corners.

She frowned, puzzled by his amusement. Clearly, he wasn't sober yet.

In a softer tone, she tried to coax him, "Come on, let me go. Go to sleep, and you'll feel better."

His smile widened even more.

Eliza: ...

"Casper..." Was he messing with her?

She raised her hand, intending to slap him awake, but he caught it and intertwined their fingers instead.

What on earth was happening? Had he mistaken her for Susan?

"Casper, look at me. Who am I?" She tried to pull her hand back, her brow furrowed. "I'm not your childhood sweetheart. Let me go."

His lips curled up, and his gaze softened.

"Then tell me, who are you?"

His thumb caressed the back of her hand, savoring the moment.
