He spoke softly, knowing she could hear him. She just couldn’t respond.
Gently holding her hand, he picked up a nail clipper and began to trim her nails with meticulous care. Each movement carried his caution, tenderness, and unwavering love.
Once he finished, he pulled a small white jewelry box from his pocket. Inside was a ring adorned with a three-carat diamond. He slipped it onto her ring finger with utmost tenderness.
“This diamond isn’t much, just something for now. When I win the ‘Blaze’ at the auction, I’ll make you a unique ring. I’ve never properly proposed to you, and I want to do it with the ‘Blaze’. Will you say yes?”
Holding her delicate hand, he kissed it gently. “Elle, please don’t turn me down when the time comes, okay?”
He firmly believed she would wake up. No matter what it took, he was determined to bring her back.
After leaving the room, Casper headed downstairs. In the living room, Caleb was engrossed in an article on his phone about surgeries that could awaken someone in a vegetative state.
“You’re back?” Casper asked.
“Yeah,” Caleb replied, setting his phone aside and standing up. “You said my sister-in-law had an accident. I finished my surgery and rushed back immediately.”
Casper motioned for him to sit and talk. “When it comes to brain surgery, I trust no one but you. This time, it’s going to take extra effort.”
