His Destructive, Toxic Love novel Chapter 585

After a year abroad for treatment, Eliza had been holding out hope that Casper would return to her, fully healed and ready to pick up where they left off. But instead of the good news she was longing for, whispers started circulating—rumors that he had become the precious son-in-law of a wealthy overseas family. The blurry photos floating around online only muddied the waters even more.

Caught up in these baseless rumors, Eliza sometimes felt adrift. Other times, she couldn't help but wonder if Casper's extended absence meant he had indeed decided to settle down abroad. His phone was perpetually unreachable, and he had even blocked her on WhatsApp. This left her worrying that maybe he'd found true love on foreign soil, especially considering the allure of the women in that country.

In her frustration, she tossed her phone aside. Even if he wanted to end things, the least he could've done was tell her. His silence was driving her up the wall.

Unable to untangle the mess on her own, Eliza called Dillon. "Casper, what the heck is going on? It's been a year, and now this?" Her voice brimmed with frustration and anger.

Dillon fumbled for words, trying to skirt around the issue. "Ma'am, Mr. Casper's situation... I'm honestly not sure myself."

"How can you not know? You're his assistant, and you've been there recently, right? Did you see him?" Eliza was fed up with Dillon's evasions.

With a nervous chuckle, Dillon couldn't deny that he had seen Casper. Casper was indeed tangled up in some challenges abroad, challenges that would take time to unravel.

"Ma'am, maybe you could hang in there a bit longer?"

"Wait for what? For him to spring divorce papers on me?" Eliza sensed Dillon knew the truth but, loyal to Casper, he was holding back. "Dillon, if you're not going to tell me what's happening, I'll hop on a plane myself."

"Don't go. It's complicated and dangerous over there."

Dangerous? Eliza couldn't wrap her head around it. Wasn't Casper supposed to be riding high over there, part of a wealthy family? What could possibly have gone wrong?
