His Ex-Wife Is A Billionaire (Evadne and Thaddeus) novel Chapter 109

A contract marriage?!

Emeric was so pissed he wanted to slap Thaddeus right then and there but what baffled him more was Evadne.

He had thought of Evadne as a little hell-raiser. Daring enough to risk getting blown to bits on the battlefield to save others was already over the top.

But to think that after disappearing for three years, she went behind their backs and got married! And to his mortal enemy Frederic's son Thaddeus! And it was a contract marriage!

At that moment, Emeric wanted to crack open her skull to see what exactly she was thinking!

Thaddeus's eyes were getting redder and redder, and his chest felt like it was being crushed, and he could barely breathe.

Now, she was about to leave him for good. Their three years of bond shattered during Mr. Hamiltion's birthday party, and everything turned into dust.

But he didn’t want to end things with her in such an unclear way, and he wanted an answer.

"If I recall correctly, we first met three years ago. When Mr. Hamiltion asked you to marry me, why didn't you refuse? Why?" Evadne narrowed her eyes into slits, looking at him coldly like a cat, "Since we're already divorced, why bother asking these pointless questions? Just assume I was bored three years ago and wanted to experience married life with a man. Fortunately, Mr. Hamiltion gave me the chance."

"Evadne!" Thaddeus called her real name with a hoarse voice, his eyes burning, "I just want an answer. I want to hear the truth!"

"Let bygones be bygones. Let's not dwell on it and look forward," she said, stretching her right hand towards Thaddeus, "We might be competitors in the business world in the future, I won't go easy on you, and I hope you won't go soft on me because of our past relationship, please compete with me to the best of your ability."

She wanted to say "out of old times' sake", but then she thought, he never loved her, so what old times?

Thaddeus felt as if a piece of his heart had been ripped out. he tried to take a deep breath, but he couldn't shake her hand.

As if by shaking hands, they would be worlds apart, never to meet again.

Evadne shrugged, unbothered, and got into the car.

Just as the engine roared to life and the luxury car was about to take off, she rolled down the window and looked at Thaddeus with a beautiful face.

Thaddeus's heart skipped a beat, but her following words made him freeze.

"See you at 9 a.m. tomorrow, and we'll go to the courthouse to finalize the divorce proceedings."

The luxury car smoothly drove away from Thaddeus, and the wheels seemed to be rolling over his heart.

Behind him, Hamiltion was wiping away his tears secretly, Frederic's face was complex, his eyes hard to read.

"What? Now that she's gone, you suddenly remember how good Ms. Evadne was? Regretting it?" Hamiltion sneered.

"I just."

"Thaddeus's way of doing things, you don't need a DNA test to know he's your son! Can't tell real from fake, can't discern the genuine from the false! Humph!"

Frederic looked defeated, grinding his teeth, unable to speak.

Evadne's fingertips rested on her lower lip, and she spoke softly, "Because Thaddeus is handsome."

"Handsome? Which one of my sons isn't better looking than Thaddeus?!"

"Which one of your sons can I marry?"

Emeric was choked up, and he continued angrily, "How much money did their family give you? How much jewellery? How many shares? How many mansions and luxury cars?! Why didn't I see any media coverage about you and Thaddeus's marriage? With Frederic's personality, wouldn't he have been showing off if Thaddeus married a girl of your status? He would've set off fireworks walking down the street!"

"Emeric, you forgot I used a pseudonym during my three years of marriage to Thaddeus. They didn't know I was your daughter." Evadne was originally a bit down but couldn't help but almost laugh at Emeric's words, "I never liked to show off, so marrying Thaddeus was pretty simple."

Emeric was fuming at the thought of the Abernathy family pushing his daughter around, both openly and secretly. He wished he could bankrupt them tomorrow and kick them to the curb!

"You'd rather put yourself down, even willing to marry Thaddeus under a false name. Evadne, have you lost your marbles, gone mad, or been brainwashed? This is totally not like you!" Emeric's face was filled with disbelief and confusion.

She wasn't crazy, and she wasn’t stupid. She just once deeply loved Thaddeus and sincerely wanted to marry him.

Biting back the pain, Evadne gave a faint smile, gripping Emeric's cold hand tightly, gently covering it.

"Thaddeus has been good to me these past three years, and he never let me lack anything or bullied me. We broke up amicably, Dad, don't worry about me. See, didn't I come back safe and sound?"

"What else can we do?" Emeric was both angry and heartbroken, his handsome face suddenly seeming to age a few years. "Let it be! After all, you married under a fake identity, Thaddeus's ex-wife is just that unlucky Ilana, not Evadne! Evadne is still the unattainable queen of the hill!"

"That's the spirit, Dad!" Evadne hugged him tightly, affectionately leaning on his shoulder.
