In the dim light, their intertwined shadows flickered back and forth.
Marilla's slender frame trembled slightly within his embrace, her innocence proving irresistible to the mischievous Jareth.
Leveraging the courage from his drink, he became bolder.
Suddenly, Marilla's vision blurred as Jareth's towering figure pressed down on her.
Her petite body sank deep into the couch. She was helpless as a caged canary.
Jareth's breath hitched, yet his domineering lips never left hers, twining, tasting.
At that moment, the seductive voice of the female singer on stage echoed softly.
Marilla, dizzied by Jareth’s kiss, her eyes gleamed with unshed tears.
“Uh.” Her breath hitched as she squirmed beneath him, struggling.
A flame kindled in Jareth’s lower abdomen. His eyes darkened with desire and he was like a starving beast.
Despite being drunk, he felt a voice in his head keep reminding him: she was his best friend's sister.
Friends' wives were off-limits, and so were their sisters!
Just when he was about to lose control, he reluctantly left her soft lips, a thin string of saliva connecting them.
Marilla's gaze was unfocused. She was unable to think, let alone speak.
This kiss intoxicated her.
“I wanted to verify if your scientific theory is true,” Jareth squinted his intoxicated eyes, wiping away the saliva on her lips with his finger. “Didn’t you say women are inherently lustful?”
“You took advantage of me.”
“And you, did you confirm it? Do you think I'm made of clay or water?”
Suddenly, Marilla felt an overwhelming sleepiness envelop her.
Jareth kissed her forehead gently, whispering in her ear, “Sleep, tell me your answer tomorrow.”
The once lively Marilla was now on the verge of sleep.
She faintly heard the enchanting song lingering around her.
Bang!
Edith, fuming with anger, kicked open the door of the private room.
The sight startled the disheveled men inside, their faces turning pale, while the women screamed and hid behind their partners.
“Who the hell are you?" One of the men pointed at Edith and demanded.
Jareth had always protected his sister well, and she had spent most of her childhood abroad, so few people in Elmsworth recognized her.
Edith, already furious, stormed over to the coffee table, picked up an empty wine bottle, and smashed it on the man's head!
Crash!
The bottle shattered, the women screamed, and the men were dumbfounded!
“I'm your mother!” Edith glared at them, her eyes bloodshot, her presence menacing.
“Where did this brat come from?! Have you lost your mind?”
Two others stood up to defend their friend.
“What's all this fuss about? What are you planning to do to my baby sister?”
Jareth, cradling the sleeping Marilla, strolled in from the balcony.
Baby sister?
The two who had stood up exchanged glances and sat back down.
The one who was hit, blood trickling down his hair, laughed awkwardly, “So it's Ms. Edith, my apologies!”
“Jareth! What are you trying to do?” Seeing Jareth holding Marilla, Edith's eyes widened with anger.
“Edith, what are you trying to do?” Jareth furrowed his brows, sternly questioning her.
“Ahh! Don't touch me! Get your hands off me! You're hurting me, you know?! Get off!”
However, it was all in vain.
Edith didn't know what kind of beast Jareth had trained. Lily's grip was as strong as handcuffs, and she couldn't escape.
In the end, under the watchful eyes of the crowd, Edith was dragged out.
Late at night, Evadne luxuriously applied her face mask, lit her homemade rose aroma candle, and lay in a bathtub full of rose petals, rejuvenating her tired body.
“Mmm, so nice.” She wiggled her toes, her almond eyes half-closed in satisfaction.
A man or a bathtub, one had to choose, right?
The ringtone of Evadne's phone filled the room, jarring the silence. It was her PA, Jason, on the line.
Her assistant, Lucy, hadn't returned home with her tonight. Instead, she was working late at the office, taking care of the little odds and ends to lighten Evadne's workload for the following day.
"Jason, you can push it to tomorrow if it's too much. You should head home and get some rest," Evadne said, putting the call on speakerphone. Her slender hand was gently stirring the rose petals that floated on the water's surface.
"Ms. Evadne, there's something. I just witnessed something I think I should let you know about," Jason hesitated, his voice laced with concern. "But you have to promise me that you'll keep your cool."
Evadne snorted, "Jason, what haven't I seen before? Spit it out."
Jason took a deep breath, "I just saw Jareth with Marilla, the daughter of the Abernathy family. They checked into the hotel together."
Splash!
Like a carp leaping out of water, Evadne sat bolt upright, "What did you just say? Who checked in together?"
"Jareth and Marilla," Jason repeated, "Jareth handled the check-in himself. I couldn't have seen it wrong."
Evadne took a sharp breath, her heart pounding in her chest.
The next moment, the spacious bathroom echoed with her furious roar. It was a sound that could shake the heavens and shatter the earth!
"Bastard! Where's my gun? I'll make sure that shameless beast Jareth pays for this!"
