His Ex-Wife Is A Billionaire (Evadne and Thaddeus) novel Chapter 219

"Jason, please let this bottle of Lafite breathe a bit," Evadne said with a slight frown, passing over her phone.

Jason felt a pang of disappointment. He knew Miss Evadne was asking him to leave.

"I know what you're thinking, Jason. While Thaddeus and I did have a failed marriage, and yes, I did find him distasteful, it doesn't mean we can't ever interact."

Evadne's beautiful eyes curved into a comforting smile as she patted his shoulder, "In the future, if I want to make my mark in Elmsworth, I can't avoid dealing with him. We'll just have to play it by ear."

"But, Miss Evadne."

"What are you afraid of? That he'll eat me alive? If he dares lay a finger on me, Cassius won't even need to do anything. Elvis could make Thaddeus disappear from Elmsworth without a trace." She snorted dismissively.

No, that was not it.

He thought, "I deeply admire you, and I wouldn't hesitate to risk my life for you. What I'm afraid of is old feelings being rekindled between you and Thaddeus. I can't bear to see you jump back into the fire pit."

Jason let out a despondent sigh, picked up the wine, and left.

Evadne noticed her phone was still vibrating in her palm, persistent as hell, which was completely in line with Thaddeus' stubborn nature.

"Mr. Thaddeus, what can I do for you?" She answered, her tone as cool as ever.

"Thank you for the cake, it was delicious."

Evadne's breath hitched, her long lashes drooping.

In the silence of the night, Thaddeus' voice was low and magnetic, the slight hint of a lilt in his tone effortlessly beguiling.

She used to love calling him, just to hear his voice. Even if he was cold, she would get excited and roll around in her bed.

But now, her heart was calm.

She had always had great self-control. She could quit any addiction, including love.

"You're welcome. I hope that after eating it, you have learned something. Next time you want to meddle, remember the true meaning behind the bulldog cake." Evadne's voice was cold, her eyes filled with chilliness.

"I don't think I was meddling." Thaddeus' voice became serious, "Your business is not trivial."

Evadne laughed mockingly, completely unimpressed, "Indeed, it's not trivial. After all, to kill a pig, one needs a butcher's knife. I can help you cut down Glynnis' pride. After all, if Glynnis seizes this opportunity to become the general manager of Abernathy Hotel, your stepmother will be busier than ever. You certainly wouldn't want to make your position in the Abernathy Group more difficult."

Thaddeus was silent for a moment, his brows furrowing deeply.

Ilana cared for him deeply, looking after him meticulously and genuinely.

But now Evadne was cunning and hard to read, always plotting.

Yet, he couldn't forget her and couldn't let her go.

So, how many steps did it take to go from being a jerk to being pathetic?

"Evadne, do you think I care about Elspeth and her daughter? They can't make waves under my watch. Otherwise, I would have wasted all those years as CEO."

Thaddeus fell silent, wanting to say something, but holding back.

Evadne clenched her fists, her knuckles cracking, "Thaddeus, I suggest you stop interfering in my affairs from now on. This is the last piece of advice I'll give you as your ex-wife. When I get serious, even mosquitoes will steer clear. If you get involved and I take you down with me, don't blame me for being ruthless."

"Do whatever you want."

Thaddeus' voice was magnetic and pleasing, like a night breeze brushing past her ear, "I can't control everything, but with me at Abernathy Group, who can hurt you?"

While she was running around like a headless chicken, Edith was calm, sipping her afternoon tea from a delicate cup.

"What do you plan to do about Ada?"

"Previously, that woman made a ridiculous request, asking Abernathy Group and K to find her top tier jewelry! Thaddeus has been trying to get Alea to come out of retirement, even going abroad to persuade her, but to no avail."

When Edith heard this, her eyes glinted.

"It was because of this that Evadne was able to captivate Ada at the banquet with just one brooch!"

Glynnis stomped her foot in anger, "Damn it, just thinking about it makes me angry! If I had Alea's jewelry, I wouldn't have to deal with all these problems!"

"But you do have it. Who said you didn't?" Edith said mysteriously.

Glynnis froze in surprise. "What on earth are you saying, Edith? You mean you've got your hands on Alea's jewels?"

"As far as I know, Alea is very mysterious, and she's never shown her face to the public. No one knows if she's still alive, and only a few people have ever seen her jewels. So, why don't you just make a replica and give it to her in private?" Edith suggested in a languid tone.

"What? You want me to give Ada a fake?" Glynnis was stunned, her eyes wide open, "What if we get caught? Wouldn't I be utterly humiliated?"

"Come on, how could we possibly get caught? It's hard enough to tell the difference between a real and a fake painting at an auction, let alone a jewel. Unless Alea herself was present, who would be able to tell?"

Edith leaned forward slightly and whispered, "Plus, when I was studying in Aetheria, I met a jewellery designer. You might not believe it, but he was actually Alea's apprentice. I can have him make a replica of Alea's jewel for you. You can give it to Ada, and she'll be over the moon and willing to cooperate with you."

Glynnis was still skeptical about her plan.

But time was running out, and she was desperate. She had to roll the dice and hope for the best. It was a case of 'do or die'.
