A week later.
The grand wedding of Ada and the CEO of a renowned international car brand took place as scheduled at the K Orld Hotel.
On that day, both domestic and international internet spaces, as well as social media platforms, were taken over by this explosive news.
And every media outlet in Elmsworth was out in full force, covering the event with fervor. The headlines on the internet were equally flamboyant and sensational!
[Congratulations to K Orld Hotel for securing the hosting rights, crushing competitors!]
[The K Group from Skyrim makes a successful debut in Elmsworth! The Abernathy Group loses, an embarrassing situation!]
[Scandals erupt in the Abernathy family, how can such disparities exist amongst top-notch elites?]
The attention towards K Orld Hotel reached its peak that day.
Netizens were full of praise for the already-exposed Evadne, and naturally, they didn't hesitate to compare her to Glynnis, a fading flower.
It's clear that Ms. Evadne was the winner in this game, after all, she's the queen, who did Thaddeus think he was to challenge her? He's in over his head!
Glynnis thought she had delivered a fatal blow to Ms. Evadne. Little did she know, it backfired, making her the laughing stock of the town!
Glynnis, battered and bruised from the social backlash, fell ill out of rage and had been bedridden ever since.
Elspeth, despite her competitive nature, had no choice but to tend to her sick daughter and try her best to win Frederic's heart.
In her desperation, she underwent cosmetic procedures, secretly bought several sets of black lace lingerie, and even bought some aphrodisiac incense, hoping to bewitch Frederic like she did twenty years ago.
However, Frederic seemed to deliberately avoid her, rarely coming home in the past week. Their encounters were scarce and brief. He barely even looked at her anymore!
Elspeth was filled with resentment.
She thought all the blame was on Evadne, that little wretch!
The humiliation she suffered today, she would reclaim it from Evadne a thousand-fold in the future!
But no matter how much Elspeth hated, she couldn't overshadow the victorious glow of the Abernathy heiress.
The grand wedding of the century, made K Group – the number one financial group in Skyrim, prominent in Elmsworth.
Not only that, the K Group's stocks were on the rise throughout the day, and everyone predicted that the stock price would skyrocket the following morning.
And it didn't end there.
When the wedding venue was revealed, it sparked a nationwide discussion among netizens!
[The black rose sea! Ada's wedding is so cool!]
[OMG! I want my wedding to be decorated like this!]
[I'm tired of traditional weddings, K Orld Hotel's plan is perfect!]
Thaddeus sat in his office, attentively watching the live broadcast of Ada's wedding.
His cold beautiful eyes softened, and a small smile tugged at the corners of his lips.
He wasn't usually interested in such events, but he knew that this wedding was the fruit of Evadne's hard work, and therefore, it was of particular interest to him.
A knock on the door, and Gordon walked in with a large army-green nylon bag.
"Mr. Thaddeus, the hiking gear you asked me to prepare is ready."
"Thank you."
"Why the sudden interest in hiking this year?" Gordon asked curiously.
"I go every year," Thaddeus replied lightly.
During his teenage years, to relieve psychological stress, he spent a summer volunteering in Misty Mountain Park.
Life was simple then, aside from eating and sleeping, he followed the park ranger on hikes, assisting lost hikers or checking for safety hazards.
It was a rare and peaceful time in his life.
After becoming a CEO, he donated a significant amount of money to the park every year. This was a secret known only to him and the park ranger.
"Mr. Thaddeus! Did you watch Ada's wedding? Wow! Mrs. Abernathy is amazing!"
Gordon's eyes sparkled, transforming into an Evadne fanboy, "Black roses! How did she think of using black roses for the decoration? It's surprising that Ada agreed!"
"Because she's not an ordinary woman. She's Evadne."
Thaddeus' deep black eyes curved gently, "This baby girl always finds a way."
Gordon's eyes widened, his mouth dropping open in shock.
Did he hear that right?
The boss just called Mrs. Abernathy baby girl?
Was this a sudden shift in his character, showing his softer side?
Because of Thaddeus and Hamilton's intervention, Cedric's appointment as the head of the Abernathy Group's legal department fell through.
For the first time, the usually smooth-sailing Cedric tasted the bitterness of defeat. He took a week off before returning to the Dempsey family.
Upon entering the house, he was caught by Jason who had been waiting for him for a week.
"Well, isn't this our loyal lapdog secretary from Ms. Evadne's side."
Cedric sneered at Jason, "Aren't you supposed to be at your mistress's beck and call? What are you doing back here?"
"Cedric, don't you have anything to explain to me?" Jason ignored his mockery and asked coldly.
Cedric had never felt so humiliated. With no outsiders present, he felt free to say the harshest things to hurt Jason, "I wonder if the Ashbourne girl can even sleep at night without Jason."
"Bastard! I won't let you talk about her like that!"
Jason's eyes were on fire, his hands clenched so tightly they were making a noise.
If it wasn't for Ivan holding him back, he was ready to throw another punch.
"Enough! You will not disrespect her like that!"
Dave couldn't stand it any longer. He stepped in between his sons, his presence demanding their attention, "No one is leaving this house tonight. Everyone goes to my study!
Ivan, bring the ruler. It's time for some discipline!"
Cedric, Jason!
Ivan, resigned to his fate, could only follow orders, "Yes, Dad."
Mrs. Dempsey tried to intervene, but her husband was the head of the family. No amount of pleading would change his mind. All she could do was sigh in frustration.
"Jason, were you the one who threw the first punch?" Dave asked sternly.
"Yes, Dad."
"Apologize to Cedric. Now."
Jason's fists remained clenched, and he was still seething with anger, "Dad, I'll take whatever punishment you have for me. But I will not apologize to him. If he disrespects Miss Evadne again, I will hit him again and again until he learns to behave!"
"Jason!" Cedric was about to explode at his brother's audacity.
Dave was surprised to see his usually obedient youngest son so worked up over Evadne. His heart sank.
Just then, the butler hurriedly announced, "Mr. Dempsey, Chairman Emeric's secretary is here!"
At the mention of Emeric, they all froze and put their family feud on hold.
Mr. Dylan walked in with a smile, sensing the tension in the room.
Seeing the marks on Cedric's faces, he quickly understood what had happened but decided to stick to official business, "Mr. Dempsey, Chairman Emeric has invited your family to dinner at Silverlake Harbor. We hope you will honor us with your presence. It's been a while since Chairman Emeric saw the boys in the Dempsey family. It would be a great opportunity to catch up since you're all in Skyrim."
"We appreciate the invitation, Mr. Dylan. We'll be there on time!" Dave responded with a polite smile.
After Mr. Dylan left, the house was once again filled with tension.
"I'm not going."
Cedric was quick to refuse. He turned around, gritted his teeth and said, "I just got back from abroad. I'm tired, I'm going to rest."
"No way!" Dave shouted in anger, "Who do you think you are? How dare you snub Chairman Emeric? Even if you had to crawl there, you will be at the Ashbournes' tonight!"
