His Ex-Wife Is A Billionaire (Evadne and Thaddeus) novel Chapter 328

Avery's weary eyes finally sparkled after a night of somber contemplation.

“Let her in.”

“Yes, Mr. Chambers!” The secretary retreated.

Seconds later, the elegant sound of high heels stepping into the quiet private room echoed.

"Ave."

A seductive voice, followed by a graceful figure swaying into Avery's sight.

Avery squinted, his deep red lips twitching upwards with an appreciative gaze on the woman named Elsie, admiring her like a piece of art he had personally sculpted.

Elsie was the proprietress of The Velvet Haven, a woman born in the world of glamour. Her every step towards Avery was filled with allure, without a hint of vulgarity but rather an intriguing charm.

But what was more astonishing was her face.

The moment she walked in, Avery's heart pounded uncontrollably.

Raven hair, red lips, a confident smile, and the features he had spent years adjusting. She looked surprisingly similar to Evadne!

The remaining difference was their aura and charm. It was something she could never imitate, no matter how hard she tried.

"Elsie, come, come to me." Avery’s Adam's apple bobbed, beckoning her with a curl of his finger.

Elsie obediently walked up to him. He grabbed her wrist and pulled, causing her to fall into his arms.

“Ave.”

Her beautiful eyes were full of affection, her delicate fingers tugged at his Windsor knot, slowly descending, her lips filled with longing for him, slowly approaching his cool lips.

"Did you forget what I warned you about?"

Avery's eyes suddenly darkened, his tone losing its warmth, "You only look like Evadne. Don't think you're her. If you're her substitute, know your place. My kisses are only for Evadne."

"I understand. I'm sorry, Ave. I will be careful next time." Elsie immediately withdrew her hand, as if splashed with a bucket of cold water.

Of all Mr. Avery's subordinates, only she could call him "Ave".

People thought it was because Avery favored her, but only she knew that her privilege to be a bit more audacious than others was entirely due to her face that closely resembled Evadne.

Elsie bit her lip, her heart aching.

She had been with Avery since she was fifteen years old in Helgen. She had been with him for so many years, and he had been missing Evadne for just as long.

She really wanted to meet Evadne. What kind of extraordinary woman could make the man she loved miss her for so long?

"Ave, you don't seem to be in a good mood. Is it related to Ms. Evadne? It seems that Evadne and Thaddeus are getting closer."

Avery's eyes were cold, filled with a crimson hatred, "Although they're divorced, I always feel that they are still attracted to each other, and I can't interfere."

"Ave, why don’t you tell me directly. How can I make you feel better? How can I help you?" Elsie's eyes were burning as she stared at the man.

"I've been supporting you for so long, and your face is finally proving its worth." Avery's eyes deepened, his slender fingers tracing the contours of her beautiful face.

At this moment, there was a knock on the door, and the secretary's voice came through, "Mr. Chambers, it's me."

"Come in."

The secretary walked in to find Elsie nestled in Avery's arms. Though it wasn’t the first time, it was still startling.

Thaddeus looked at him blankly, "Grandpa, can you wish me some luck? I just woke up and you're already wishing me into a coffin."

"Hey, you know what I mean! We understand each other!"

Hamilton leaned into his ear, pretending to be mysterious, "I'll tell you a secret, your wife, she's amazing!"

Wife?

Thaddeus's ears heated up, his heart skipped a beat.

"Your surgery was personally operated by Ilana, she spent more than ten hours to clear the blood clot in your brain!"

"Evadne did my surgery?" Thaddeus was completely stunned.

"Bet you didn't see that coming, huh? Neither did I. Who would've thought Ilana was the famed doctor, Dr. Eve? What can we do now? The girl's got too much going for her. I'm starting to think you're not quite up to her level," Hamilton sighed, worrying for his grandson.

Thaddeus was taken aback for a moment, clenching his teeth and his heart. "I'll try harder. I'll strive to be a better person, to shield her from the storms and bring her happiness."

"Well, just try not to be a burden to her. That would be a good start."

Frederic, recalling the loss of such a competent daughter-in-law, couldn't help but scoff. "All I ever wanted was for you two to live a happy life together, to avoid divorce. But you insisted on being with Acacia. And now you're saying all this? I think it's too little and too late."

Thaddeus furrowed his brow, about to retort, when Hamilton cut in angrily. "How can you become more bitter as you age? Why bring up that woman out of the blue? Even if my grandson made mistakes, he had the sense to stay away from that wicked woman. Unlike some people who are still infatuated and have the audacity to lecture others despite their own failures."

"Dad!"

Frederic, his neck turning red with anger, was about to retort when his phone rang.

He pulled out his phone, his heart leaped at the sight of the screen. It was his eldest son, calling from across the sea!
