Chasel's fox-like eyes, red and moist, stared back at him in disbelief.
What the hell was he talking about?!
If it weren't for his handsome looks, Chasel would have sworn he was a monster.
"You're one of them, aren't you? Are you kidnappers?!" Chasel questioned, his voice trembling.
"Mr. Bright, welcome to Elmsworth."
Cassius squinted his eyes, extending his hand in a gentlemanly manner, "Allow me to introduce myself. I am Cassius Ashbourne, the CEO of the K Group. It's a pleasure to meet you."
"K Group?" Chasel got stunned immediately, "Wait, my aunt, are you?"
"Exactly as you think."
Clenching his fingers, Cassius chuckled awkwardly, "Let's shake hands once Elvis unties you."
"Cassius!"
Elvis returned in a huff, muttering, "That damn restroom is way too far, almost wet my pants. What's the point of such a big house?!"
Cassius furrowed, amused yet exasperated.
No matter how grand the Ashbourne family mansion was, for Elvis, it was always a cage. Both he and Evadne were free spirits, hating constraints and yearning for ultimate freedom.
Thinking of this, Cassius couldn't help but feel distressed for Evadne. Her three years of marriage with Thaddeus were undoubtedly like serving a prison sentence.
Chasel's face contorted in anger at the sight of Elvis.
Thankfully, he was good-looking. Otherwise, he might have been scary.
Elvis raised an eyebrow, his arm resting casually against the car door, a smug smile on his face, "Remember what I said, boy. Me touching you and allowing you to sit on my lap aren’t for free. It all come at a price.”
Eyes flickering, Cassius felt a jolt of surprise, trying to process Elvis’s words.
"Ugh!"
Chasel felt disgusted, "You're shameless! Seducing me by your charm, how pathetic!"
Elvis grimaced, "You think I enjoy it? I'm straight, and I've made a huge sacrifice for you. You've traumatized me, you horrifying creature."
Chasel's handsome face turned crimson with rage, "I’m not a boy. I’m a man. You're the one who still haven’t reach puberty!"
Elvis cocked an eyebrow, "What?"
"You're just impotent!" Chasel's fox-like eyes drifted down Elvis's body.
Elvis was about to charge at Chasel, but Cassius held him back, "Elvis, Mr. Bright is Suri's relative and Evadne's guest. Behave."
"Damn it.. If it weren't for Evadne, I'd make him pay!" Elvis gnashing his teeth.
With a wry smile, Cassius shook his head, finally understanding why Elvis had gagged Chasel during the journey.
He stepped forward and untied Chasel's hands and feet himself.
Chasel's skin was incredibly fair; the friction from the rope had left bright red marks on his skin, sparking an indescribable protective instinct in Cassius.
"Ouch, it hurts." Chasel rubbed his wrists, wincing in pain.
Elvis huffed disdainfully, "You're such a drama queen. Gross."
Cassius glanced at Chasel's swollen ankles blandly, "Can you stand?"
Chasel bit his lip, slowly rising to his feet.
"Ah!"
His legs, tied for hours, had numbed. He could hardly stand.
The next moment, Chasel pitched forward, his slender hands clutching Cassius' broad shoulders, his entire body falling into Cassius' strong arms.
Cassius, quick to react, instinctively wrapped his arm around Chasel's waist to prevent him from falling.
Two grown men, their position was like a scene from a dramatic soap opera, leaving Elvis stunned.
"S-sorry." Chasel's cheeks flushed.
He was usually full of fury, but after being embraced by the man like that, his negative feelings dissipated.
”Don’t say that. We’re the one that should apologize.”
Without hesitation, Cassius scooped Chasel over.
Chasel, “?!”
His heart was pounding.
Although he admitted that he had been reveling in prurience, and every time he met some hot guys, he’d be unable to control himself, not to mention after getting drunk. Otherwise, he’d never fall into Elvis’s trap.
But this time, his feelings towards Cassius were different.
Without thinking, Chasel lifted his arms, wrapping them around Cassius' neck.
"What the hell?! What’s going on here?"
Just then, Evadne, Arnold, and Jason arrived.
Seeing the scene before them, they were flabbergasted.
"Is that a man or a woman in President Ashbourne's arms?" Jason was confused.
Evadne sighed, "I might've been too eager. I'm afraid if I push Chasel too much, he might refuse to help. I can't exactly hold a knife to his throat to force him."
"Evadne, don't worry."
Cassius sat beside her, gently draping an arm over her shoulder, "You have us. We're here to take care of the things you can't."
"That's right, Evadne." Arnold comforted, "You should let us do something for you. We're starting to feel useless!"
Evadne felt moved, her lips trembling slightly and her eyes welled in tears.
She remembered every kindness shown to her, even by her own brothers. She never took anything for granted.
"Hey, let me tell you something interesting."
Elvis' eyes lit up, "Evadne, when I was abroad, I met a woman who looked just like you. I made a mistake, and I couldn't help but to tap her on the shoulder. She turned around and glared at me. Only then did I realize it wasn't you. Damn, it was so awkward. But that woman actually glared at me. In my thirty years, apart from you, Evadne, who else has dared to glare at me?"
"Wow, she can't even glare at you now? You are something else."
Arnold teased him while sipping his tea, "Besides, could you stop messing around? Evadne is the epitome of beauty. Where else could you find a woman who resembles her? You sure can talk a big game."
"Are you asking for another kick in the ass?" Elvis shot him a scowl.
"Elvis, did that woman you met really look like me?" Evadne asked curiously.
"She did. I usually have a good eye and rarely mistake people, but that time I even got it wrong. You can imagine how much you two look alike!"
Confounded, Elvis stroked his chin, "Do you think it's possible that our dad has another kid out there? I should've asked her who her dad was."
Evadne and Arnold were speechless.
"The world is big, and it's not impossible to find two people who look alike. You've been reading too many ghost stories, Elvis." Cassius shook his head.
Suddenly, Evadne shuddered.
She was reminded of that snowy night in a park, when Thaddeus pulled her aside and desperately tried to explain himself.
He said, he was innocent.
He said, he followed her to the hotel because he was worried. He saw a woman who looked exactly like her, entering the hotel with a stranger. That's why he pursued them, and ended up being caught in a scandalous situation.
Evadne's heart started pounding harder.
Could it be, Thaddeus was telling the truth?
Did he really see a woman who looked exactly like her?
But could there be such a coincidence?
And even if there was, why would Edith also happen to be at the hotel? And why did Thaddeus go to her room?
