His Ex-Wife Is A Billionaire (Evadne and Thaddeus) novel Chapter 436

Evadne, while tending to her family and taking care of Emeric's illness, was also secretly orchestrating her next move.

Emeric's health was not to be taken lightly. After much deliberation with the three lady companions, they decided to inform Cassius and Arnold to come home to visit Emeric. After all, as the eldest and second sons of the family, it was their duty to shoulder this responsibility.

Simultaneously, Suri had called upon Chasel to diagnose Emeric.

Evadne was a top-notch surgeon, but when it came to neurology, Chasel was the expert.

After a series of checks, Chasel explained patiently to Evadne and the rest of the Ashbourne family, who were all ears, holding onto his every word.

Only Cassius stood on the periphery, his tall figure casting a somber gaze on Dr. Bright, who was seriously explaining the situation to the patient's family in his white coat.

Cassius's gaze was deep, and his lips were slightly upturned, forming a beautiful curve.

Chasel kept talking non-stop, and suddenly, he raised his long lashes, looking precisely in Cassius's direction. Their gazes met, and Cassius quickly averted his eyes, his heart pounding in his chest.

Chasel chuckled quietly and then reassured them, "Don't worry, Chairman Emeric's condition has worsened over the past few years, but it's not as serious as you think. Regular check-ups, proper care, and medication will keep it under control.

As for his diet, he should stay away from spicy, salty, and sugary food. Thick blood can increase the risk of disease."

Upon hearing this, Myra, the family's culinary queen, nodded incessantly, designing a new menu in her mind.

"Good lord. He's going to have to give up all his favorite foods."

Arnold forced a bitter smile, "He's going to be miserable when he hears this. He's got such a picky palate."

"He better get used to it. He's sixty and still doesn't take care of his health. I've caught him sneaking into the kitchen to eat cake in the middle of the night twice! Where's the dignity of a business tycoon!" Evadne exclaimed, shaking her head in disbelief.

"The most important point is to keep his mood stable. Don't let his emotions fluctuate too much, and especially don't let him get angry. Anger can worsen his condition and harm his liver." Chasel added seriously.

Everyone nodded in understanding.

But amidst them, Evadne was like a dark shadow, her long lashes lowered, her heart aching as if it was tightly gripped by an invisible hand.

After Emeric's check-up, he returned to Silverlake Harbor with his family.

In the living room, Emeric was surrounded by everyone, watching him take his medication and eat the plain porridge prepared by Myra.

"Can't I have some pickles? This has no flavor." Emeric complained as he swallowed the bland porridge.

Everyone chorused, "No! You're off pickles!"

Emeric was left feeling helpless.

During dinner, Emeric gently told Suri, "Suri, accompany me to the horse racing event this weekend. I'll have Mr. Dylan send some dresses to your room later for you to choose from."

Suri showed concern, "Emeric, are you sure you should go? You've just stabilized. Chasel also said you need more rest. Maybe you should skip it this year."

"I must go," Emeric insisted, business matters were not open for discussion. "The K Group may have reached the top in Skyrim, but we're still working on our reputation in Elmsworth. We're not as well-known as the Abernathy Group or the Chambers Group. This is a rare opportunity to make an appearance. Plus, I've already made plans with Jeff. I can't cancel now!"

Emeric's position as the richest man was due to his opportunistic approach, a trait Evadne had inherited impeccably.

She could have been popular as Thaddeus's ex-wife, but she hid it and shocked the world with her other identities.

"Would you mind if I asked something, Emeric?"

Evadne asked casually, taking a sip of water, "Can you take Myra to the horse race this time?"

Emeric was taken aback, not expecting this request.

"Evadne, I don't like attending such events. I feel uncomfortable in crowds, and I'm not good at socializing. It's best if Suri goes, or even Aviana!" Myra quickly explained, her face turning red.

"But you seemed to enjoy the county fair, didn't you?" Evadne countered.

Myra was at a loss for words.

"Suri seems to have sensed Evadne's intentions and suggested, "Emeric, let Myra go. The media will start speculating if I'm always the one going."

Emeric frowned and looked at Myra, asking softly, "Myrie, are you unhappy?"

Myra shook her head vigorously.

Emeric held her trembling hand under the table, saying, "You've always avoided public events. I thought you didn't like them, and I didn't want to pressure you. If there's something you want, you can tell me. I'll do my best to fulfill it."

"Emeric, I really don't." Myra's eyes welled up with tears.

Seeing her so unsettled, Emeric felt a pang in his heart.

He thought he had helped Myra overcome her past wounds, but it seemed they were still there, hidden deep within her. She was merely trying to act normal to keep him from worrying.

Ultimately, Emeric decided to take Myra to the event and had Mr. Dylan prepare a dress that matched her temperament overnight.

For now, everything was under Evadne's control.

"Evadne."

After dessert, Myra caught up with Evadne, hesitantly whispering, "Why do you insist I must attend this year?"

"Myra, you can't hide forever, living like a ghost. It's too cruel, too unfair. Remember how stunning you used to be, dazzling in the limelight. The media used to rave about you, saying you were the dream of every man in the country." Evadne looked at her intensely.

Thinking of the once glamorous Myra, and now seeing her as a housewife, stripped of her former glamour, Evadne felt a bitter pang in her heart.

Myra always believed that it was Emeric who saved her, that the Ashbournes accepted her. That was why she was willing to be his wife, never complaining.

"That was all in the past, all because of the producer's hype."

Myra sighed, a bitter smile on her face, "I've never thought highly of myself. I just sing and act, it's my job, just like any other."

"No matter what happened in the past, you can't let it haunt you now. You have to step out of the shadows. You're not only an elder to us, you're also Nydia's mother. You have to be strong for her!"

Evadne's words struck a chord in Myra's heart.

Thinking of Nydia, Myra felt a surge of strength, driving away the darkness within her.

"You're right. I've been too weak. I'm a mother now, I need to be strong." Myra said, slightly ashamed.

"There's one more thing."

Evadne took her hand, her lips close to Myra's ear, she whispered, "Wait and see, I have a big surprise for you."

Meanwhile, at the Elmsworth estate.

Thaddeus had been secretly monitoring the actions of the maid who had caused his mother's death, careful not to alert her.

On another note, he had managed to keep Ward's parole a secret, and the criminal who attacked him was under his control.

"Mom, do you remember what you promised me?" Glynnis asked, her voice icy cold.

Elspeth was silent for a moment in the darkness, then got up and went to the bedside table. She pulled out a file from the drawer and tossed it in front of Glynnis.

Glynnis immediately picked it up, clutching it like a treasure, "Mom, what is this?"

"Take it home and see for yourself."

She couldn't wait another minute!

Glynnis got up abruptly, heading for the door without a word.

"Wait." Elspeth suddenly called out to her.

"Mom, what is it?"

"I really don't understand. What good does it do you to ruin your sister's marriage?"

Elspeth looked at her with an icy stare, a mixture of contempt and confusion. "Just because Jareth rejected you, you want to get even? Even if you break them up, Jareth will never fall for you, and you'll never be accepted into the Fairhaven family."

"You're right," Glynnis snapped, clutching her document bag tightly. Her face twisted into something grotesque as her mouth twitched. "Human beings live to defend their pride. What's wrong with what I did?"

The ones in the wrong were Marilla and Jareth!

Upon returning to her room, Glynnis immediately pulled out the contents of the document bag.

To her shock, it was a diagnostic report that Marilla had a mental disorder, autism!

Glynnis' eyes glinted maliciously as she erupted into laughter.

This diagnosis, to the Abernathy family, was a deep secret!

After all, who would want to air their dirty laundry and let others know their child had a mental disorder? The rich and famous naturally cared about their reputation.

If this diagnosis fell into the hands of the Fairhaven family, Marilla's dream of marrying Jareth would be a joke!

Barry only had one grandson, Jareth, his chosen heir. He would never tolerate his granddaughter-in-law being a fool!

Glynnis was so excited that her hands trembled. She picked up her phone and called Edith.

"What do you want now?" Edith drawled lazily, her mouth hardly opening, probably because she was applying a face mask.

Glynnis snorted, her voice cold. "Are you free tomorrow? Come out. I have something to show you. Something that will completely shatter Marilla's dreams of marrying into the Fairhaven family."

Edith teased, "Oh, you really get a kick out of trying to ruin your own sister, don't you?Even though I dislike Marilla, I don't want you to marry into our family. If you can treat your own sister so badly, what will you do to me if you become my sister-in-law and one day you don't like me? I'm scared."

"The feeling's mutual. Your concerns are my concerns. I'll take your words as a compliment." Glynnis rolled her eyes.

"Whether Marilla gets into the Fairhaven family or not, I might soon be your legitimate sister-in-law."

Edith hummed a tune, feeling extremely pleased. "Better start saving for the wedding gift."

"Are you really getting married? Did Thaddeus agree to marry you?" Glynnis expressed doubt.

"You will be at the horse racing event, won't you?"

Edith laughed mysteriously, "Come and you'll find out."
