His Ex-Wife Is A Billionaire (Evadne and Thaddeus) novel Chapter 72

Thaddeus was dealing with a headache, and his buzz had completely worn off. He'd never been the one to initiate a kiss with a woman before.

The only two times it happened, it was Acacia who kissed him, and he only let her peck him on the corner of his lips.

But he didn't expect that this time, during his passionate kiss with Ilana, he was like a wild beast, unable to control his desires. He couldn't even understand himself.

"I drank too much tonight; I wasn't thinking straight." Thaddeus leaned back, feeling weak and pinching his brows. "I can't drink like this anymore; it's too damn risky."

"You're just a drunken lecher! You forced a kiss on my Ilana! You're a jerk!" Jareth was so pissed off that he could do nothing but spin in circles. If he wasn't injured, he would've beaten the crap out of Thaddeus!

Under the influence of the strong liquor, he lost control over his emotions. But he had to admit that the moment his lips touched Ilana's, the sweetness was unexpectedly delightful.

"I'm tired; get out." Thaddeus said, his brows furrowed and his Adam's apple bobbing slightly.

"Thaddeus, you're heartless! You should've picked a better time to take advantage of her! Ilana's still recovering from her injuries and she's got stitches. How could you do such a thing while she's injured?" Jareth asked angrily, his heart aching for his sweetheart.

Thaddeus's eyes widened, and his heart skipped a beat.

Evadne rushed into the bathroom to freshen up, splashed cold water on her face, and then left the hospital.

Her eyes were full of anger. They were already divorced; how could he kiss her? How could he treat her like this?

So he behaved inappropriately after a few drinks? Did he just see her as an outlet for his desires? That's really low!

"Evadne!" At that moment, a tall figure rushed up to her and held her tightly.

"Evadne! I'm sorry. I came too late!" Cassius's eyes were moist, and his heart was aching for her.

"Cassius, I'm okay."

Cassius knew about her shoulder injury, so he didn't hug her too tight on the injured side. "Does your wound still hurt? I can take you back to our hospital now; we'll get the best surgeon to take another look."

"I really am okay."

Evadne managed to calm her disrupted emotions. She took a deep breath, her eyes were cold and her face pale.

"Where's Elvis? Let him come see me!"

Evadne's villa was buzzing with activity that night.

Cassius sat by the table, sipping tea with an indifferent attitude.

Arnold and Jason stood by Evadne's side; the two tall men looked helpless under Evadne's strong demeanor.

"Evadne, Elvis is your own brother; try to calm down." Jason tried to defend Elvis, speaking softly.

"Elvis is a professional agent, and he knows how to control himself. He just wanted to help you punish that jerk." Arnold was a bit nervous, sensing Evadne's anger.

"A professional agent? I think he's more like a hitman!"

Evadne shot Arnold a cold look and said, "When you called me earlier, you were worried that Elvis might harm Thaddeus. Has your attitude changed in just a few hours?"

"Oh! So you're the snitch! Arnold, you backstabber!"

Elvis thought about how his sister took a bullet for him; he felt so guilty that it was physically painful. "Evadne, I just care about you. I can't bear to see my beloved sister get hurt by a jerk!

You're the treasure of all of us and we've spoiled you since you were a child. We can't let Thaddeus hurt you! If he made you upset, he needs to pay!"

"Elvis, I'm going to say this one more time, and it's the last time." Evadne's eyes were red, and she spoke with a firm voice: "I married Thaddeus willingly; no one forced me. I knew he loved someone else; I knew about his cold personality. I thought I could warm his heart with my love; I thought I could make him fall for me, but I failed. Since I failed, I need to take responsibility for my choice. It's not about him; it's about me. So, I won't let you bother him anymore; I won't let you hurt him!"

Hearing this, Elvis's pupils contracted abruptly.

"Elvis, for me, it's hard to let go. It's hard to move on."

Evadne sighed deeply, a hint of sadness in her eyes. "To be honest, I loved Thaddeus for so long; even though we're divorced now, he still holds a place in my heart. Can't we just chill out and put an end to all this? Why are you stirring up a hornet's nest just as I'm trying to get my life back on track? All this bickering and hurting each other, it's getting us nowhere! Did you even consider how I'd feel when you hit him?"

"Evadne! I screwed up! I really did! Please, can you cut me some slack and give me another shot? I'll do whatever you want! I promise I won't go and mess with Thaddeus again!" Elvis pleaded with tear-filled eyes.

He'd been through countless risky missions without a hint of fear, but now, faced with the fact that his sister was dead set against forgiving him, he was scared out of his wits.

"Evadne."

There was a mischievous glint in Evadne's eyes as she pursed her lips slightly. "Well then, before you head off in a couple of days, come home with me to meet Emeric. Let's have a meal together."

Cassius and Arnold exchanged glances; no words were needed.

Elvis was far from keen on the idea, but if it would make his sister happy, he was willing to bite the bullet.

"Alright! I'll come home with you!"
