1594 Goodbye, Grandma Li (Part VII)
It was an especially long night for everyone at the Jin family house. Except for the children, cats, and dogs, almost everyone acted as if they had been numbed. They just felt too exhausted these past few weeks—and drained.
Inside Jin Liwei's bedroom which was now the couple's bedroom, Iris stepped out of the ensuite bathroom to find her husband nowhere in sight.
The twins were already asleep on their crib bed along with Ice Cream. Popcorn should be staying with his favourite human cousin, Little Jun, in another room.
The German Shepherd guard dogs, Pudding and Chowder, raised their heads when they sensed her presence. Their tails wagged as a greeting before returning to sleep on cushions below the crib bed.
Iris checked on the twins before peeking at the balcony. As expected, her husband was there. She sighed before turning around to take two coats from the wardrobe. She wore one and then stepped out onto the balcony.
"Why did you come out?" Jin Liwei asked when he heard the balcony door open. "It's so cold out tonight."
She glared at him before handing him a thick coat. He was wearing a coat but it was too thin for her liking.
"Wear this," she told him.
He was about to protest but upon seeing the look in his wife's eyes, he balked and obediently wore the thicker coat over the coat he was already wearing. He immediately felt warmer. In just a minute, he already began sweating under the double coats. He didn't mention it to his wife, though. The two of them had different temperatures that they felt comfortable with. His was colder while hers was hotter.
"What did you and Eldest Brother Yehan talk about earlier?" Iris asked.
Jin Liwei didn't reply right away.
She narrowed her eyes, sensing his hesitation. "Tell me."
He sighed. "Long Hui apparently contacted Jiang Ying Yue. Eldest Brother Yehan was the one who answered the call. Long Hui apparently wants to reconcile with Jiang Ying Yue. He wants to ask her to give him more visitation rights for Little Jun."
Iris pursed her lips. It seemed that what Long Jian told her earlier today was true.
"Eldest Brother Yehan didn't want to add to my problems, especially with Grandma…with her…passing away…but he could only turn to me, to us, because he and Jiang Ying Yue consider us as Little Jun's second parents."
Iris nodded. She and her husband also considered themselves as their godson's second set of parents. They were not only Little Jun's godparents but also his legal guardians if—heavens forbid—something ever happened to Jiang Ying Yue and Lin Yehan.
Hopefully, it would never come to that point.
"What did you advise Eldest Brother Yehan?" Iris asked.
This was the first time that she had heard about this. It seemed that Jiang Ying Yue didn't know about this yet either. If she did, Jiang Ying Yue would surely consult with her first especially since it involved Long Hui, the original Long Xiulan's eldest half-brother.
"I told Eldest Brother Yehan to change his and Jiang Ying Yue's phone numbers," he said. "A new custody contract had already been drafted, signed by both parties and notarized. It's a legally binding contract. Long Hui had agreed to sign the contract, so he must follow it whether he likes it or not. Now he wants to change it? Tough luck for him. Even if Jiang Ying Yue's heart softens again, I won't allow it. Our godson has suffered enough."
