Chapter 14
“Branden, Braxton, Deven, did you just mistake someone? You called me, right?”
Violet walked in by herself and placed three thermos flasks of different colors on the table, muttering to herself.
“This is the chicken soup I made with my own hands. How painful it must be for the three of you to have suffered such serious injuries?”
She spoke and even attempted to touch the wounds on their bodies.
Branden instinctively tried to avoid, but he couldn’t move because of his injuries. He coldly refused, “Don’t touch me, I’m fine. They need you to take care of them, go check on them.”
Violet paused for a moment, with a forced smile on her face, and turned around to look at the other
two people.
“No, I don’t need it either.”
“I was fine, please have a seat and don’t move around.”
Braxton and Deven spoke one after another.
“You… Why have you suddenly become so distant towards me? Did I do something wrong?”
Tears quickly welled up in Violet’s watery deer–like eyes, rolling down in big drops as she sobbed.
“Is it about the engagement, right? But it’s not my fault either. I know I am just a servant’s daughter, not worthy of your status, and I never expected to be with you.”
“All along, I just wanted to stay by your side and take care of you forever, but… but the engagement was arranged by Madam Marquez, and I couldn’t resist. Can you please try to like me?”
Seeing her humble and cautious demeanor, Branden, Braxton, and Deven, none of them were
moved as they were before.
Instead, there was an indescribable restlessness.
After realizing that they actually liked Lilyana, they never thought about marrying Violet.
If anyone among them treated her better, let Grandma make sure and let him marry her, wouldn’t he regret it for a lifetime?
With this in mind, Branden decisively spoke up, “I never considered marrying you. I used to like
you, but now I have realized my true feelings. The person I truly love is Lilyana. I was only grateful to you before.”

“You saved me during the earthquake, as a token of gratitude, you can make a request to me, as long as it’s not excessive, I will be able to agree.”
“You and Madam Carlson were not living well, I can give you money, but the condition is that you and Madam Carlson voluntarily leave the Marquez family, or choose between the two of them, in any case, I will not marry you!”
Violet stood frozen in place, with a buzzing sound ringing in her ears.
How could this happen?
Why did he suddenly refuse even though the marriage agreement had already been settled?
She sobbed incredulously, pleadingly looking at Braxton and Deven.
“Braxton, Deven, you…”
Braxton’s gaze turned cold, and he decisively refused, “I’m sorry, Violet, but I also don’t want to
marry you.‘
“The engagement was a decision made by my grandmother, not something we sought after. The
engagement is not your fault, nor is it because of your status. It’s simply because I don’t like you
enough, and I can’t spend my life with you.”
