Chapter 306
After an unexpected phone call from George Torres, I couldn’t help but rush to his house. Were we finally working on our plan to take down my number one enemy,Mario Castillo?
I had waited long enough, and not to forget-I had even packed his daughter’s suitcases, folded every single piece of clothing to perfection.
“So you’re the prick who got my baby sister kicked out of the house.” A man I recognized as Alex Torres leaned against the door, waiting for my arrival. I could already tell that he was going to be a difficult one.
“Lucas Nunes, I don’t think we’ve met.” I stuck out my hand. It wasn’t my intention to let Elena
get kicked out of the house, but I needed a strong ally to take down Mario Castillo, and I did not have a choice. I followed George’s orders, and that was all.
Alex scoffed at my hand while I shrugged my shoulders and moved it behind my back. Someone as sensitive as Alex couldn’t understand, but technically his baby sister’wasn’t all that better. She was involved with a Castillo.
“Will you take responsibility if something happens to her?” Alex glared at me. “Will you take responsibility for my dad’s episodes?”
What did any of that have to do with me? I only came here with one goal, and I was going to succeed-no matter what.
“Nice to meet you too.” I chuckled as I brushed through Alex to force my way inside. He was not going to intimidate me.
“Lucas, is that you?”
I followed George’s voice. “George?”
“In here, son!”
Curious, I made my way to the living room and looked at the blue decorations. I had no idea. what was going on, but there were balloons and cake. Was it someone’s birthday?
“What’s with the balloons?”
George walked up to me with a bright smile on his lips and forced a party hat onto my head.
“It’s for you. Today we’re celebrating!” He spoke, sticking a party horn into my mouth.
Wasn’t this a bit too much?
“And now you have to face the consequences for your actions,” Alex whispered, walking past me. He patted my shoulder and sat down on the sofa.
“Celebrating what?”
George paced back and forth as he clapped his hands. This man was so out of it, but it was just something I had to deal with. George Torres was the best, and I needed to work with the best.
“We’re celebrating your return to the Castillo household.”
“M-my return? I’ve never been there before.” I spoke, shocked.Whatever he thought he had planned, it wasn’t going to happen.
“Oh yes, you will.” Alex chuckled. “And you will keep an eye on Elena as well.”
Elena?
“Is she there?” I asked. “How do you even know that?”
“I put a tracker in her phone.” Alex admitted shamelessly. “I never really used it, up until
now.”
I was no saint as I was the one who had actually followed her around, but a tracker in a grown woman’s phone? What was wrong with these people?
“Okay, the two of you are sick,” I stated. “All I want is to take down Mario Castillo—’
“And you will!” George cut me off. “Lucas, think about it. We have a way to get inside of the house, grab all the information we need-and start a case!”
After giving it a second thought, George’s words weren’t all that crazy. Having someone inside the mansion would make things so much easier. All we had to do was collect evidence, and that was it.
“So what do you want me to do, just go there and tell him I’m his long-lost son?” I questioned.
“Are we forgetting that I’m an officer? He won’t even accept me-”
“He will,” George argued. “Because you will tell him the truth, and you’ll be the perfect son and spy!”
Yes, by risking my life. Being a pawn in George’s game was not what I had planned, and it was certainly not what I wanted. Mario Castillo was not and would not be a father to me. He was the man who had kicked out my mother and left her without a single penny. He was the
main reason for her addiction because she could never get over him.I didn’t want anything to do with that man.
“Have you already thought of something?” George asked. “A place you feel most comfortable.”
“Yes….my mom’s grave,” I spoke. George gave me an understanding nod. They could follow me around all they wanted, but no one would suspect a son visiting his mom’s grave.
“What is your goal?”
“To find something to put down the Castillo’s, find evidence on Marvin for Maddens death. and to look out for your daughter.”
Last but not least, find out why Mario Castillo wasn’t man enough to take care of my mother.
“Who should you keep your distance from?”
“Linda, because she most likely doesn’t want me there, and Victor-because he sees everyone as a threat.” I reminded myself. Linda had three children and would probably not be too happy with my existence or her husband’s betrayal. Victor, who had lost his parents at a young age-had the brains of a little boy who was incapable of sharing.
“Who are the vulnerable idiots who will surely open their mouths?”
“Tiago, who might blame his family for Anya’s death, and Karina, who does not know left. from right,” I spoke. If anyone was willing to give me free information, it had to be one of those two.
“And how do you befriend Marvin?”
“Through Pedro Vidal, because Marvin is a private person who likes to keep his circle small, and an introvert.”
Building a bond with Marvin would not be that easy, but according to my research, Pedro Vidal was another case. He was an outgoing person who was easy to befriend, which would work to my advantage..
“You’re forgetting one thing.” Alex jumped in. He leaned his hands on the table and shot me an intimidating look. “No, I’m not.” I shook my head..
“The last thing is to keep Elena’s identity a secret, no matter what happens-”
“Because she wouldn’t even be alive if the Castillo’s would find out who she really was.” George closed his eyes. He balled his fist in anger. “They’ve managed to steal away my only daughter, but mark my words-I will get her back.”
George having the power to fight for his stupid, naive daughter was something I couldn’t speak on. She was not held at gunpoint, and living with the Castillo’s was her own choice. She could drop dead tomorrow, and I wouldn’t give a shit-but if I had to protect her for George to help me, so be it.
“So, how did I do?” I asked. “Do you think I’m ready?”
George chuckled. “I think you’re ready to meet your father.”
