Chapter 228
Kane propped his elbow on the high legged round table, leaning against it as he gazed at her.
She had no idea how long he’d been watching.
He was dressed in a very formal all–black suit, with his short hair neatly combed and shiny. The Kane she knew was cold and indifferent, seeming indifferent to everything, but at this moment she saw a hint of a seemingly nonexistent heat in his eyes.
Aria tightened her grip on the wine glass and calmly looked away.
Kane’s gaze shifted as well, clinking glasses with the person who came to greet him, the two of them as usual pretending not to know each other in public.
After Javier extricated himself from the guests, he walked straight to Aria and said, “There you are.”
“Have you finished chatting?”
He nodded and looked at Rowan.
Rowan reached out his hand for a handshake, “I have heard of Alpha Stafford’s great name.”
“Are you Harold Sterling’s grandson?” Javier shook his hand and quickly let go.
“Alpha Stafford knew my grandfather.”
“The elders at home know each other, but I am not familiar with them.”
The two of them exchanged polite remarks, with each taking turns to speak, but between their words, there was an indescribable atmosphere.
Aria was just about to turn and walk away when she suddenly bumped into the man nearby, her red lips brushing against his collar, leaving a mark.
Smelling the faint and familiar scent of the man, she felt completely overwhelmed.
Kane lowered his head, his gaze sweeping over the lipstick mark on his collar, then lifted his eyelids to lock onto her, his voice low, “Miss, your lipstick got on me.”
His words immediately draw people around him all turned to look.
Aria’s face looked slightly embarrassment, and in a flash, she smiled and replied, “Sorry, Alpha–Ravencrest, I didn’t notice.” With that, she took out a pack of tissues from her bag, “Would you like me to wipe it for you?”
Kane didn’t move, nor did he take the tissues.
