Hitched & Hitched Again: A Comedy of Marital Mayhem novel Chapter 1170

The next morning, Elysia was just contemplating calling Zane when her phone buzzed with his call.

Frowning slightly, she answered, “Hello.”

“Elysia, is my mom with you? I brought her over to apologize, and the housekeeper said she left with you last night.”

Elysia didn’t hide the truth. “Yes, I was worried about Caroline being alone, so I brought her back to my place.”

“Thank you for that,” Zane replied, clearly relieved.

“No trouble at all. I lost it a bit yesterday, and I’m sorry for that.”

Zane was surprised by her apology and quickly reassured her, “You don’t need to apologize. It’s not your fault. What happened to Winona is ultimately my responsibility as her husband. You have every right to be upset with me.”

Elysia suppressed a wave of irritation and said, “We all know it’s not really your fault.”

Before Zane could respond, Elysia continued, “Are you free to come over now?”

Zane was taken aback. “Yes, I am. Why?”

“Caroline wants to talk about Winona and that other girl. It’s best if you come alone. Your mom should stay away for now; Caroline’s still upset about what she said yesterday.”

Zane quickly interjected, “I understand. I’ve already talked to her about it. She got up early today to make soup for my mom as a peace offering, and we’re here to apologize.”

Elysia cut him off, “Let’s wait until Caroline calms down before she apologizes. You should just come over by yourself. Oh, and Blossom came back last night. She’s here at my place too.”

“You know how she feels about Winona. She might get emotional when she sees you, so just be prepared.”

After hanging up, Blossom eagerly asked, “Is he really coming over?”

“Yeah, and you can give him a piece of your mind if you want,” Elysia replied.
