Claude had been anticipating trouble from these two all along. As soon as Brian made a move, Claude positioned himself firmly at the door, one hand bracing the doorframe, the other extended to block anyone from entering.
“What’s your purpose in bringing so many people to invade my home?” Claude asked coolly. No matter how many people there were or what banner they were flying, barging into someone else's home was simply unacceptable.
Brian halted his steps. Today, their aim wasn’t to break into someone’s house. Unable to push his way through, Brian let a cold smile play on his lips and said, “Purpose? Well, in front of all these reporter friends, let me first announce something. The Hetfield Group’s Stuart has been married to Morwenna from the mountains for some time now.”
Even though Matthew knew what they planned to do, actually hearing it out loud made him feel uneasy. Stuart had kept this secret for so long, and now they were just airing it publicly. But with Stuart’s whereabouts unknown and the Hetfield Group in jeopardy, whether or not this news was made public hardly mattered anymore.
The journalists, seasoned professionals as they were, instantly recognized the explosive nature of the scoop.
“My God, Mr. Hetfield is already married?”
“Who is this Morwenna? Is there a Winslet family in Rosefrost Hollow?”
“How can you not know Morwenna and call yourself a reporter? She’s the student from the mountains who was sponsored by Norbert, and she had publicly declared her affection for Mr. Hetfield.”
“So it’s her. But her background doesn’t match Mr. Hetfield’s at all. I wonder what kind of luck she had to be married to him. There must be countless women in Rosefrost Hollow who are heartbroken right now.”
The reporters whispered amongst themselves, all agreeing that Morwenna was not a suitable match for Stuart. They spoke as though marrying Stuart was the ultimate fortune for Morwenna.
