Opening her eyes, Sheri found herself inside a white void space. It was out of her expectation since usually she always ends up in a dark void space but this time, it's different.
"System, where are you?" She asked as she looked around.
She was somewhat fascinated at first with the different atmosphere but after a few tries of calling out to the system, she felt that something was amiss. For the past 30 minutes, she had been calling the system but there was no reply.
She was exhausted inspecting the surrounding for any sign of any object but it was empty even from a speck of dust.
"How I wish there is a seat or something in here?" She murmured while walking. Just as she finished her words, out of nowhere, a chair suddenly appeared.
She was genuinely shocked.
"Whoa! A chair, there's a chair!" She gasps in unbelief.
She cautiously walked towards it and reached out her hand to touch and feel if it's real inspecting every part of the chair. Sheri smiles and just got seated. As she sat, she tried one more time to call the system but to no avail, there was still no reply. She shrugged, relaxed herself and just waited for the system to appear. After a few seconds, a door suddenly appeared in front of her.
"Whoa!" Sheri was given another surprise. Knitting her brows, she looked left and right to spot anything suspicious.
Gradually, she rises and slowly approached the door. She went behind it and gave another inspection and while doing so, it suddenly opened. It feels like she was being invited to enter but she was hesitant. Nevertheless, out of curiosity, she took a step and walked inside.
As she enters, an extremely shimmering light brightens the whole surrounding making her close her eyes. After a few minutes of silence, she opened them again and realized that she was in a room. Her brows were once again knitted together.
"What is this? Don't tell me I'm in my next mission? System-" Her words were cut off when a lady dressed as a maid came into view and was running towards her without a stop. She panicked thinking that they would collide but the maid went through her.
"Oh wait a second! Am I a ghost?" She asked herself.
"The Furen has given birth." Shouts the maid. Right on cue, a cry of a baby resounded.
The door was then suddenly opened and came a lot of people barging in moving to a particular room. She was curious and followed the crowd.
On the room, a woman looking exhausted was lying on the bed. A few maids were scrambling cleaning and carrying out things that were used for the childbirth. A man approaches with a loving expression for her wife and their new born baby. She carried the child and kissed her on the forehead.
"She will be called Xuě lì because of the small pear mark on her left arm." The man announced as he carefully looked at his child and the woman merely smiled. The whole household learning about her name rejoiced and celebrated.
Sheri was still trying to figure out what was going on. Why was she invincible and why was she on this place? She understood that the time was in an ancient era and again, she was like a soul just passing by. She was confused and shocked about her situation right now. The system is still not answering her the more she's confused. A cry of a baby then awakened her from her thought. She continued to stand by and for now, observe everything.
The man handed over the baby to a nurse maid for breastfeeding. Then out of a sudden, it feels like she was watching a movie in a fast-forward speed. She was standing still and saw courses of events fast-forward in front of her. It had continued until the time abruptly stopped and the pace went to normal.
"How come they knew? We made sure everything was taken care of for it not to be known." The woman who just gave birth just a few moments ago cried out to her husband.
"Shh, I already dealt with it. The cunning Emperor has a spy inside our house monitoring our actions without us knowing. We cannot do anything." The man comforts the woman as she tears up bitterly.
"You have to do something to protect our sole daughter!"
"Shh, yes I know. I will. I will make it certain that she will not be caught in between battles for power." He kisses her forehead and helps her rest on the bed.
"Oh" Sheri sighs and doesn't want to conclude anything. Until now, the system is still not responding to her calls. She came to a point where as long as she's not involved in this era or it's not her mission, everything's fine. She will just go with the flow.
"No wonder he was so angry before". She wanted to step out the house and venture the area but it seems like she was stuck. She was being restricted.
