Taken aback, James glanced at Amelia and saw her lowering her head with a disappointed look. He tensed up and said coldly, “Tell her to come to see me!” 

He immediately hung up the phone and lowered his voice when he explained gently, “There’s nothing between me and Emelyn. I think she wanted to see me alone in order not to reveal the organization’s affairs. Don’t get the wrong idea, okay?” 

Hearing this, Amelia looked up in bewilderment, “What do you 

mean?” 

James stayed nonplussed for two seconds, then let her go in frustration, “Nothing.”
