Amelia offered “three months” because she thought she would no longer be in this world by then. And if Kevin still wanted her at that time, he could go and sleep with her ashes.
But he would only give her three days…Amelia found it hard to
accept.
As she was about to say something, Kevin let go of her. She swallowed the words back.
In any case, she could at least get away tonight.
“Alright, babe,” Kevin bent down and kissed her on the cheek, “I’ll leave you alone tonight, then. See you in three days.”
Amelia touched her cheek that had been kissed by this bast ard, feeling disgusted.
But she tried hard to keep an obedient face as she nodded.
Kevin was happy to see that face and finally got up and walked toward the door.
“By the way,” he stopped half way and turned to give Amelia a meaningful look, “Eva is your friend, right? Babe?”
Amelia’s mask of obedience cracked for a moment.
He knew about Eva. He must have investigated everything about her.
“What about her?” Amelia asked with a cold face.
“Nothing. Stay home and wait for me, okay? Don’t go anywhere,” Kevin chuckled.
Kevin didn’t say anything threatening, but Amelia knew exactly what he meant.
If she dared to run away, he would go after Eva.
Powerlessness once again crept up Amelia’s spine, making her let go of her clenched fists.
“Leave her out of this. I will stay here for you.”
Kevin blew her a kiss, “That’s my good girl!”
Disg usting!
Amelia slammed the door shu t and locked it, then she ran into the bathroom.
Getting in the bathtub, Amelia picked up her loofah and scrubbed hard at the places Kevin had kissed and touched.
Even when her skin turned red and bruised, she still felt it was not enough.
She washed and washed, until she was too tired to continue, and
she finally started to calm down.
Kevin threatened her with Eva…she couldn’t even run away. She must find a way to deal with the situation…or she would be tortured to death three days later.
Amelia quickly wrapped herself in a bath towel and returned to the bedroom. She picked up her phone, wanting to call the police.
But as she thought of Kevin’s power and influence…Amelia gritted her teeth and thought better of it.
Her life didn’t matter that much. She was going to di e soon, anyway.
But Eva still had a future in front of her. She was about to get married.
She couldn’t get Eva into trouble.
Amelia stood on the spot and thought for a long time. Finally, she went to the Contacts on her phone, and her finger lingered on the number she had blacklisted.
That familiar name brought her heart to beat hard and fast.
He was the only one who would stand a chance against Kevin. But he didn’t want to see her anymore. If she called him…would he answer?
After a long hesitation, she still didn’t dare to make that call.
She knew James very well. When he got tired of something, he would never give it a second glance.
He might think she was trying to pester him if she called to ask for his help.
She had chosen to walk away, with dignity… It’d be better not to bother him.
Amelia went to get a spare key and picked up some meds.
The doctor said she should be hospitalized and wait for a suitable heart donor, but Amelia refused.
Her heart issue was congenital, and for a while, her condition improved after her artificial bypass surgery.
But since the two hard kicks at her heart five years ago, she started to have relapses of heart failure. Treatments and therapies didn’t seem to help much.
A few months ago, she had edema and difficulty breathing, which were late-stage heart failure symptoms.
Amelia knew her end was near. She no longer expected to find a suitable heart donor.
The meds she took were mainly painkillers and for controlling her edema.
Having been conscious of her appearance all her life, she didn’t

She grabbed a handful of pills and took them with a gulp. Then, she put a pepper spray and a laser into her bag. That was all the preparation she could done.
She couldn’t think of anything better, so she would have to fight against Kevin head-on.
One life for one life? Sweet deal! She had nothing more to lose
anyway.
