Harper fell silent again, her pretty face expressionless, her eyes filled with indifference.

Lauren continued, "Harper, do you know why Benjamin wants you to have a child?"

"So you called and wanted to meet me just to tell me why Benjamin asked me to have a child?" Harper asked.

"That's not entirely true. I think it's better to tell you the truth than to keep you in the dark. Benjamin disclosed your marriage not because he wants to be with you for the rest of his life but because he wants you and his grandpa to feel at ease, and he also wants you to agree to have a child."

Harper's eyes were filled with coldness. She seemed to be smiling, but her face was stern. "So Benjamin asked you to hide it from me, yet you still chose to tell me against his will?"

"Harper, we're both women. I don't want you to be kept in the dark."

"No need. After all, Benjamin plans to raise the child with me. I have to thank you. You will help give birth to the child for me and Benjamin."

Lauren sounded triumphant, and her tone was full of provocation.
