"I can't handle it, so stop coming to me. As for Grandma, I will take responsibility. After all, she has always been by my side, helping me grow. To me, she's not just my grandma; she's my parents. So, blood relation or not, I don't care!"
Harper finished speaking and ignored Jack.
Seeing her attitude, Jack was furious and stormed over to the desk, glaring at her. He asked angrily, "Harper, is this how you respect your father?"
"What do you expect me to do? Be like Kimberly, acting like a princess without a care or pressure in the world. Have you ever given me a chance?"
It was the first time Harper voiced her deep-seated thoughts so bluntly, showing she no longer cared, or else she wouldn't have spoken so freely.
But Jack still believed they, as parents, were right, and the wrong was with Harper for her disobedience and for not valuing the Mitchell family.
No matter what he said, it was like hammering mercilessly on a pillow, with no response at all. In the end, Jack could only glare at Harper fiercely and say, "Harper, do you think you would have a place in the Martin family without the Mitchell family?"
After speaking, Jack's face was filled with rage as he stormed off.
Harper's argument with Jack inevitably reached the ears of others in the company. Just after Jack left, Sophia came in and asked, "Ms. Mitchell, are you alright?"
Harper offered a faint, shallow smile. "I'm fine, go on with your work, don't worry about me."
