Benjamin grinned, saying, "Worried about me?"
"I wasn't joking with you," Harper said.
She frowned at him.
Benjamin wrapped his arm around her waist and smiled, "There's no certainty. Public opinion is beyond my control, especially now that the Martin Group is in a passive position. We can only block the rumors by presenting concrete evidence that proves Martin Group's innocence."
"You're not hiding anything from me, are you?" Harper asked.
"What do you think I could hide from you?" Benjamin asked back.
"I don't know. If I knew, I wouldn't be asking you," Harper said.
Her face was pale.
Benjamin smiled, saying, "I haven't hidden anything from you. This incident came too suddenly. There were no suspicious targets and no favorable clues. So, I have no idea where to start investigating. The only thing I can confirm is that this incident wasn't caused by negligence in our work."
Before Harper could respond, he added, "Anyway, it's late. Let's not talk about this anymore. What did you have for dinner?"
"I had dinner with Annie." She remained solemn because she was the architect of this project, with the same status as the project manager, Charlie.
Unable to hold back, she asked, "Benjamin, how are you going to deal with Charlie?"
Benjamin paused and said, "It depends on whether this incident is related to him or not. If it is, he'll have to take full responsibility. If it's not, we won't do anything to him. After all, he has been working with the Martin Group for many years, and his position now is based on his abilities."
"Do you trust Charlie?" Harper asked.
"Of course. Otherwise, I wouldn't have let him handle such a big project alone," Benjamin replied.
"Since you trust him, I think this incident has nothing to do with him," Harper said.
"We'll know once everything is clear," Benjamin said.
The incident didn't lose heat as time passed. Instead, it seemed to be gaining momentum.
Early the next morning, there were many people outside the Martin Group's door, holding banners advocating for justice. It affected the normal access of the employees.
Benjamin instructed Curtis, "Call the police and have them disperse the crowd. Even if the Martin Group has made mistakes, it's not for others to provoke at will."
Curtis quickly called the police.
The police came and dispersed the crowd, but the incident was captured and posted online by someone with ulterior motives. [The Martin Group is bullying people!]
[The Martin Group is trying to evade responsibility. Are they feeling guilty?]
