Harper wondered if it was because of her pregnancy that he was afraid that she would be harmed.
If that was the case, she couldn't agree to it.
After all, Harper would never be with him, so she didn't want to take advantage of his kindness to get away with it. It was against her bottom line, and she would not do it.
But she had no idea that Frank might have other purposes.
Frank failed to convince Harper. He was disappointed, but his face betrayed a mix of helplessness and concern.
After leaving Harper's office, he grew indifferent and had a cold face.
He glanced at Annie, who was discussing the design with Sophia and others, walked over, and knocked on the glass door of the meeting room. "Excuse me. Annie, may I talk to you?"
Annie asked, "What do we have to talk about?"
"It's related to Harper. Could you come to my office?"
Frank stared at Annie, fearing a refusal, and mentioned Harper's name directly.
Furrowing her eyebrows subconsciously, Annie was stunned for a moment before saying to Sophia, "You discuss it first and let me know the result later."
Annie and Frank returned to his office, and he closed the door. Annie said with displeasure, "Aren't we talking about Harper? Why did you close the door?"
"Annie, do you have any prejudice against me? I don't think I have done anything to upset you."
"You're joking. I don't quite understand what you mean."
Annie's reaction was calm. Despite her polite tone, she didn't smile at all.
Frank said, "Well, let's consider this a mere misunderstanding. I've approached you to discuss Harper. I'm concerned that she might end up being unfairly scapegoated for this accident. I suggest, therefore, that you persuade her to delegate all responsibilities and cooperation with the Martin Group to me, allowing me to shoulder the burden if they attempt to shift the blame onto her."
Annie understood.
Frank was planning to incriminate Harper.
But this incident was not Harper's fault. She was innocent.
Annie looked at him. "Why are you doing this?"
Once Frank was convicted of this crime, there would be legal consequences, considering that someone had already lost their life due to the incident.
Annie pondered whether his desire to shield Harper from trouble stemmed from his deep affection for her.
Annie frowned slightly and gazed at Frank in confusion.
But Frank said, "There's no reason. I don't want her to suffer."
"Mr. Parker, aren't you aware that the company involved is the Martin Group? Benjamin is her husband. Do you think a husband would watch his wife suffer?"
"But Benjamin doesn't love her."
"It doesn't matter whether he loves her or not. Now that she is pregnant with Benjamin's baby, can he really ignore her?"
Annie would never interfere with Harper's relationship with Benjamin, but the only certain thing was that she didn't believe he would be so cruel as to disregard Harper.
